The Icons come from a few different sources, and some i've hacked together myself, the bulk of them however come from a style pack called Faenza Icons.
I must have batch converted a couple thousand png icons in the last week or so :)

not going well here...
used a new memcard fresh install - DietPi_v6.25_RPi-ARMv6-Buster updated and all - installed amiberry - autoboot option 8
nothing

@tekkned_twitter
installed libSDL2 again - nothing

re-installed from scratch - same :(

You could try using raspbian instead, you can use it without a desktop too which makes it light, not quite as light as dietpi but still workable.
Amiberry is working fine for me atm on raspbian, next week sometime i'll try it with dietpi as well.

Ill check it out. Ty @ukallstar_twitter

@br6
Hello, I have posted this up midwan/amiberry#567 re: dispmanx and amiberry in manjaro aarch64 rpi4
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
@br6 I've replied to that a little earlier today :)

Using DietPi - installed 'make', 'gcc' and 'git' used 'sudo apt-get install libsdl2-dev libsdl2-ttf-dev libsdl2-image-dev libxml2-dev libflac-dev libmpg123-dev libpng-dev libmpeg2-4-dev' (the non-devs could not be found/installed). Used ' sudo apt-get install libraspberrypi-dev'. Cloned Amiberry from the repo. Trying to make the build but I'm getting an error (make -j2 PLATFORM=rpi4)
image.png
any ideas?
Like stated above - the Amiberry service does not run on DietPi - at least not here :)
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
you seem to be missing g++
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
ah
I thought I installed it :)
let me retry
Had g++ in mind did something with gcc

@tekkned_twitter
Done compiling :) ty Now to try to find out howto start it
image.png
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
well I think I have to start Amiberry via ./amiberry but after that I'm getting this
image.png
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
it can't open a window over SSH, unless you specify the DISPLAY=:0 option first (to open the window locally on the machine, not remotely)
try running it like DISPLAY=:0 ./amiberry
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
Thought about that as well. But I get the same error when I run it from the '500'. Will try your suggestion. Letting you know
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
it seems to work for me when testing over ssh here :)
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
weird - well, I get the same error when I start it locally - still
image.png
so local and remote are consistent
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
maybe I forgot a package or did not set an environment parameter?
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
did you compile SDL2 with KMSDRM support? if you're not running under X11, the default SDL2 version provided by the repo won't be able to open any windows without that option
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
running from the shell not booting into X11. Ultimate goal is to directly boot into WB. Followed your tutorial on https://github.com/midwan/amiberry and used make -j2 PLATFORM=rpi4 after installing the necessary dependencies
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
I must say (just sprang to mind) that sudo apt-get install libsdl2 libsdl2-ttf libsdl2-image libxml2 libflac libmpg123 libpng libmpeg2-4 did not work. So it might have something to do with that
image.png

@tekkned_twitter
Trying to burn a full buster image - that's with the desktop and try a setup there. Bit of a wast of space and the redundant stuff on there...
sigh I think I'm cursed
image.png
🆃🅴🅺🅺 (っ◔◡◔)っ ✌
@tekkned_twitter
well, updated an image that booted where the service amiberry did not work to the latest DietPi version and amiberry worked again. Yeah...

@Bob69270198_twitter
Hi all, Im running Amiberry on DietPi. Anyone know the default ssh login details? ive tried pi / raspberry , root / dietpi , pi / dietpi . etc etc etc
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
I believe it's root/dietpi - bheck if you have SSH enabled on the device however! :)
Simon Dick
@sidick
Has anyone seen it when sometimes in emulation you press x but it appears as though x and return were pressed? Even happens after a restart but doesn’t always happen even straight into a shell
Simon Dick
@sidick
Ignore that. Had the keyboard joystick setup
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
yeah, that's a classic :)
Khanz
@Khanz
Hello I've used the dietpi to flash to my microsd several times on a rpi4 however i get no ping or boot remotely is their something im doing wrong?
Dimitris Panokostas
@midwan
@Khanz hm, you might need to ask in the DietPi forums for that. Usually it works right away
