@amilajack
oh
try checking out the release branch
Tine Jozelj
@mentos1386
aah, .6?
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
git checkout release-0.0.6-alpha
yarn
All PR's should be made to that branch
Tine Jozelj
@mentos1386
bunch of errors, but it's closer
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
What errors are you getting?
I'm getting a bunch of errors too. I'll update this with the project that this is based off of, electron-react-boilerplate
I pushed a lot of perf improvements to the boilerplate
Tine Jozelj
@mentos1386
wow nice, you work alot on open source projects?
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
I work on a few projects here and there
Made a PR to revitalize the project
amilajack/popcorn-time-desktop#221
This PR won't fix the API endpoint issue. Mostly infrastructural changes
Tycho Bokdam
@TriPSs
Hey, @amilajack just wanted to thank you for setting this project up! I created a fork and changed it to how i like to work, if interested see https://github.com/TriPSs/popcorn-time-desktop/tree/shows
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
Did you fix the torrents for shows in your fork?
Tycho Bokdam
@TriPSs
since yesterday i can play shows and movies
image.png
This is my show detail page, when there are no torrents the buttons change to "Search" here i will implement a search for that episode
Other wise it will look like this

@amilajack
Inspired me to redesign the shows selection :)

@TriPSs went through the changes you made. Very impressive!

Hey @amilajack, just wanted to let you know; the easiest fix for #228 is to stop using castv2-client and mdns, and use the lib 'chromecasts' instead! See here for how i did it!
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
Yup. mdns doesn't build correctly on windows. I didn't use 'chromecasts' because I've noticed it has compatibility issues with certain chromecasts
Tycho Bokdam
@TriPSs
If i understand it correctly that was only with the audio only devices?
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
I tested it on an Nvidia shield and it didn't work

@amilajack I just came across a handy lib to get a available port, this could solve #172
jy95
@jy95
Hello, I wrote a helper to scan directories in order to find movies/tv-series files : https://github.com/jy95/torrent-files-library . I wonder this tool could be used inside PopcornTime (so instead of download torrent files, why not use the one already on the user computer ? )
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
Would appreciate a PR for that
Nick Geoca
@nickgeoca
hi, i am trying to run popcorn time (HEAD detached at 0.3.10) using gulp, but am stuck on loading page
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
Checkout the v0.0.7 branch
Nick Geoca
@nickgeoca
@amilajack i couldn't find that version. is there a link?
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
git clone https://github.com/amilajack/popcorn-time-desktop.git
cd popcorn-time-desktop
git checkout release-0.0.7
yarn
yarn dev
Nick Geoca
@nickgeoca
@amilajack why did u fork it? or, why did the popcorn-time/butter communitity not want something "better" ?
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
It’s a rewrite
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
I wanted to make a version that was faster and that was based on modern technologies
That's why its a rewrite
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
published the first stable release!

hey guys Anyone around? have Question about Electron Packaging
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
sure, what's the question
BrsDreamer
@BrsDreamer
@amilajack Just Looking For Some explanation as to why i should use electron as Crossplatform Desktop app ? im Coming From .net Dev >> WPF and im trying to expand my Knowldge with Learning A crossplatform Desktop framework (im kinda Software Developr fan)
and do you think should i start learning electron for this or QT ?
and whats ur Though about Qt
Amila Welihinda
@amilajack
This question isn't related to this project so it would be better if you could message me directly. But the gist is that with electron, you can leverage the significant amount of packages from the NPM ecosystem. Not just node packages but react components as well. The web ecosystem has a large number of components which you can use and this makes development much easier and streamlined. You won't have the performance of C/C++ but most of the time performance isn't that bad with electron if you use it correctly. Also performance critical code can be written in webassembly with near native performance. Message me personally if you have more questions
