@Jefiozie thanks for the reply. I'm saying "whole" because I can't find a good timing let ui-grid know that ui-select has done input. Leaving search input box could be followed by other user actions such as remove select. For now I'm trying on some solutions of making ui-select behave normally in ui-grid. Wish me luck.

@Jefiozie thanks for the info. I'm afraid this doesn't fit my needs since dropdown closed doesn't really mean user finishes their input. Point is what's the proper timing to ui-grid to close ui-select input. ui-grid suggests on blur which is not a good idea for ui-select.

Hello I'm wondering If i can render the select options without displaying them until user clicks the select area. I need this kind of behaviour because I'm loading a very large set of data and I dont want to wait until the data will be rendered when user clicks the select. I sow that until user click the select options has the ng-if directive so they are not rendered when the page loads. If I could render them when user enders the page, and just display when user clicks the select I think that could help improve the performance of ui-select?? Any ideas about that ?
You and me both, friend. There's a PR that I understand might fix the problem but no work is being done on this project any more. We've been stuck on angular 1.4 for at least 2 years now because of this (granted I haven't done any work on this since then) but now we're at the point where we absolutely have to upgrade so I'll be working on either a fix or a workaround next week. I can keep you posted on my findings if you want. Seems to me that you don't need an actual fix, tho... in your case there is no way users are going to scroll through 3000 items, so you might want to just filter your recordset with
| limitTo you'll need to somehow make sure that whatever option(s) is(are) select(ed) and make sure they appear in the initial subset that is shown, tho.
