What do you have to import in order to store variables in localStorage?

@Gaddamnit is this question related to my question?
Gaddamnit

Oct 13 2016 03:06
No, it's not. I think you would have to import RouterModule into your app.module and add it to your imports

@solemidas_twitter You can use the normal javascript localstorage.setItem

So I don't have to import anything? @iRoachie let me try it.

If it’s an object use JSON.stringify first to set it, and JSON.parse to read it back
Yea it’s javascript after all :)

Hi guys
Following usecase: I have a delivery app and I can log in with facebook or continue without log in. If I continue without Login and the user makes an order it goes to the firebase database. However I want that the user can also see all the orders he has done next time he uses the app. Is this possible ? What would be the best method to do this ? Localforage ?

LocalStorage would work, but in terms of being the best method I'm not sure.

The warning given by the community is that localstorage can be cleared by the OS So it's not reliable
You're better of using SQLite to store the data
If you don't like sql itself, you can use pouchdb which lets you save objects like you would in normal js

Oct 13 2016 04:38
@iRoachie then how would you know that user if they did not register after the OS clears out localStorage?

@storatus If you're using the new RC you'll need to use the Storage service

Hi guys.
where is the ionic2's Css API doc ?
For example,

<div padding></div>

I want to know about "padding".

In ionic2 official doc, I can't find anythin that useful?

Guy? does anyone know if ionic 2 will co-exist nicely with angular 2 cli/ng? I can't afford to break my dev environment right now, working on a couple of ionic 2 apps.

I would suggest to go native
we burned through 300K b/c of beta ionic2
@rrubio What’s it from angular cli do you need that ionic doesn’t habe?
@nottinhill Why didn’t you use ionic 1 then, since it’s production ready?

@storatus Hey you can use Sqlite to store the order in local databse anytime user makes an order. Here’s a tutorial i found online http://gonehybrid.com/how-to-use-pouchdb-sqlite-for-local-storage-in-ionic-2/

I am realy looking for resources for ionic 2
to get me up to speed
i have an app idea i want to implement with it
Kyle Roach
@iRoachie
Oct 13 2016 16:15
Have you tried the getting started guide on their website? http://ionicframework.com/docs/v2/getting-started/
It even has a section which compares ionic 1 vs ionic 2
Kersy Duru
@lilkersy
Oct 13 2016 16:15
yes i have done that, it helped me in creating and being able to serve the app
i like ionic 2 because of typescript
i am from a java background
so i find typescript easy

Example customising the nav slider
to add pictures etc
ie to add user image
Kyle Roach
@iRoachie
Oct 13 2016 16:23
The menu is an html template, so you can modifiy it like a normal html page. http://ionicframework.com/docs/v2/api/components/menu/Menu/#navigation-bar-behavior
This is the template they're using there
<ion-menu [content]="mycontent">
  <ion-content>
    <ion-list>
      <button ion-button menuClose ion-item detail-none>Close Menu</button>
    </ion-list>
  </ion-content>
</ion-menu>
So you can edit this to add in pictures or whatever you want

@rrubio I don't think it will be a problem. Once they are in separate directories, each project will have their own dependencies
