I'd like to settle an UX argument. I think form input placeholder text should use a very dim color. I think it's a massive faux pas, to make your place holder text, the same color as the primary color of your website. Am I crazy or does anyone else agree ?

+1 perhaps allowing md-primary and md-accent etc would be best

@epelc you are saying that md-primary should be allowed as a placeholder color ? I think the way it's currently implemented in Angular Material, it's great. Having a non muted color, for example 700 # 0288d1 ( from here is just silly I think )

I thought it was already md-primary. I'm fine with it just being a muted color I have no use for the md-primary class on an input I thought it might make it easier to switch over though

I'm talking UX, not MAterial. I like how Material has this implemented, but I just wanted to check with some UX experts if they believe using your primary website's color as your input placeholder text color is something they would ever do ? I think it's a gross style violation, and yet I've seen some people do it ... Would you guys color your navbar with the 700 color, then color your placeholder text with the same color ?

@Awk34 in a proposed design. so i wanted to double check if i'm crazy. since i myself am not a designer, but it felt so awkward seing it

@kosz the reason that is a bad idea for UX is that the placeholder will look like content that has been filled in. Admittedly the placeholder color in Material Design is too faint though, especially for accessibility.

I also think placeholders in MD are too faint.
