Hi, from ng-conf, i gathered that angular material 1.0 will support Angular 1.X. Is that true?

it is already using angular 1.x

Also, now that Angular 2.0 plays well with web components, does it make sense to use Angular Material with ng 2.x? Wouldn't you use Polymer Elements etc. instead?

I'd wait for angular 2.x to mature a bit. It isn't anywhere near prod ready

yes, but with 2.x, would there be any place for angular material, specially coz Polymer and stuff are more advanced..

angular-material is probably going to update to 2.x they made the new angular site with it anyways
I think you can already use it with 2.x but I havn't tried yet

Material for Angular 2 is already underway as a parallel effort, 1x will continue on however. There is quite a lot of work still to be done, and Angular 1x will continue to be supported.
Polymer with ng2.0 alpha seems like a potential for wasted effort IMO, so much is still in flux

@marcysutton do you know if they are going to make it easy to upgrade angular-material if you switch to angular 2

I would imagine so, as work is already being done to port it
But I wouldn't count on it happening right away

I expect it to take a while was just wondering if they were starting fresh
glad to hear they are just porting it though :)

Yep. It has actually been great, because we're finding things that should be refactored

Also cool to see how Shadow DOM will work in with the development process
I.e. trying to minimize CSS pain

BTW you can look at the Angular weekly meeting notes to see progress on Material 1 & 2: https://docs.google.com/document/d/150lerb1LmNLuau_a_EznPV1I1UHMTbEl61t4hZ7ZpS0/
@yanivefraim here are some contributing guidelines: https://github.com/angular/material/blob/master/docs/guides/CONTRIBUTING.md
We aren't actively soliciting PRs, but if you find small issues that can be easily solved with a PR those are the best ones to tackle. Otherwise, reporting new issues after searching the existing ones is a big help
