@masber_twitter You just have to set the width of the card in your css
Does anyone know if the dialog boxes are scrollable??

did you put the select in an <md-input-container>?
masber

Aug 14 2017 15:59
no
@ramkat99 it complains "ERROR Error: md-input-container must contain an mdInput directive. Did you forget to add mdInput to the native input or textarea element?" if the select is inside an md-input-container

no, thats right, you cannot put it in an md-input-container - just wanted to rule that out
have you tried <md-error> right after the select tag?

@ramkat99 I think it is a bug, the placeholder changes to red when the select has the focus
yes, one sec

it’s probably just the material style that you are using
did you set a specific material theme?
masber
@masber_twitter
Aug 14 2017 16:05
yes @import "~@angular/material/prebuilt-themes/indigo-pink.css";

I think the red is just the color that it uses when the field is active (or has focus) if I remeber correctly

inputs stays as red even if it looses the focus

do you know how to define your own theme? It’s easier to then play around with the colors, etc and to update the material style

Yeah, I think that is normal because the value is not selected yet and the field lost focus (when displaying the popover)
I think :)
maybe subscribe to the form control value change and check if that gets called when popup displayes
if it does, then it’s probably applying the required validation atb that point
you can also output the states of the form control in your view (next to the select) - like touched, etc
to see what the states are as you interact with the component
