@PooSham also browser compatibility - grid is poorly or not supported on IE and early edge browsers
oops, I misread your question, but yeah I'd guess compatibility is the main reason
PooSham
@PooSham
@philmayfield Yeah. In my case we're doing an application that is going to be used by companies who all have relatively modern browsers, so that isn't an issue. According to caniuse.com/css-grid , over 95% of world wide users support CSS Grid. At what point would you consider that there is enough compability?

Aloha! Is there a way to make the sidenav have a dark background with light text while keeping sidenav-content the default light background with dark text? I’d prefer a theme-based solution so I’m not continuosly chasing down CSS rules while developers add things to the side navigation...

@philmayfield
@PooSham If I was making a public app I would use css grid 100%. I work in the corporate ecosphere where IE11 is indeed alive and well, so we've reached for the Material grid a few times when we needed 2-d layout because of that.

Is flex-layout supposed to be the replacement for Material's own layout features (https://material.angularjs.org/1.1.2/layout/introduction)? I have not been using it because it is still in Beta. I have been using Covalent's (v2) built-in layout, which I think is just an extension of the original Materials one. I do not want to include that just to use the layouts. Is there another stable alternative?

Everyone, I need help with mat-table architecture. I need to design a table that gets data from Spring Boot app with 15000+ plus records. My table has 7 columns and users want sorting, pagination and filtering on this table. I can implement sorting and pagination without any issues. But filtering is kind of hard, since we have to deal search it across 7 columns. Any suggestions?

@pavankjadda just do it server side and only load what the client needs to see

Hi Team I having an issue in integrating OwlDateTime picker with Angular2+ Material
Below snippet throws error :
<mat-form-field class="example-full-width" appearance="fill">
<mat-label>Choose a date
<input matInput [owlDateTime]="dt1">
<span class="trigger" [owlDateTimeTrigger]="dt1">
<mat-icon style="margin-top: 10px;">calendar_today</mat-icon>
</span>
<owl-date-time #dt1></owl-date-time>
</mat-label>
</mat-form-field>
Below snippet works fine , but material style is not applied on it :
<div class='datetime-conatiner'>
<mat-label>Choose a date
<input matInput [owlDateTime]="dt1">
<span class="trigger" [owlDateTimeTrigger]="dt1">
<mat-icon style="margin-top: 10px;">calendar_today</mat-icon>
</span>
<owl-date-time #dt1></owl-date-time>
</mat-label>
</div>

Hi there
I am using Mat-Accordion (Angular Material 10.2.2).
I am adding togglePosition input attribute and I set it to "before" but the arrow is still after.
image.png
AbelardoLG
@abelardolg
That icon arrow should be before and not after.
image.png
Does anybody know why this setting is not applying it?

@abelardolg what you have should work, maybe there are some custom styles messing it up? Also fwiw, you dont need to bind that property: https://stackblitz.com/edit/angular-twy8d6?file=src/app/expansion-expand-collapse-all-example.html

can anyone help me with a CSS here, I am looping through an array of buttons & want to show the selected button in a different color : https://stackblitz.com/edit/angular-vfxba4?file=src/app/button-overview-example.html
Phil Mayfield
@philmayfield
@AishGaurav I dont think theres a way to track it without keeping track of which is selected. I'm sure there are a ton of ways to do this, heres a quick example: https://stackblitz.com/edit/angular-vfxba4-fgd1u7?file=src%2Fapp%2Fbutton-overview-example.html
But the important bit is the binding to the color attribute
This is of course the Angular Material way to set color, you could of course use css and a custom class or something, or css on a pseudo selector. But buttons dont act like toggles, there is no "active" state to them. You might also consider mat-button-toggle https://material.angular.io/components/button-toggle/overview
