It's not just an angular material thing
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
Yes but angular material embeds it in such a way that it produces a lot of noise if you want the beautiful style of Material but don't want to deal with Aria. I personally would use them. But my team is a bit more conservative.
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
man, is there a pure CSS dropdown menu out there somewhere?
Andrew Koroluk
@Awk34
@marcysutton see @kosz
:P
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
@kosz are you using a lot of icon buttons? Where are you getting the warnings? I think your team should listen to what the warnings are telling you (make your app accessible) :)
aria-label is a mechanism to provide a label on something that needs it, without having to add a visual label
but if there are bugs with the warnings, I want to know so we can make them better
Arne Bedurftig
@abedurftig
Thanks @Shrizzy, still not sure what the benefit is, can you explain?
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
@marcysutton I don't think there are any bugs there. I am just getting into this code myself now, so I'll let you know if we find any. I think the concern was only to have the option of turning the warning off ( even though I personally agree with what you said, about paying attention to those warnings ). as always, thanks for your insight
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
is there no Material Design spec for Pagination ?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I haven't seen one.
I made my own template for angular-utils pagination it works really well
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
I wonder if they didn't make one because it's expected to automatically load new content on scroll down ... I'd appreciate if anybody that knows exactly could tell me. I'm becoming a Material Design fanatic, I need to know :)
Eric
@calidion
date picker, toolbars are badly needed.
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
is there no concept of a "success" color theme in Material?
kinda seems like an oversight. not something we can't add manually, but still
Matt Traynham
@mtraynham
@dmackerman I would consider the primary color theme as the "success"
Ed Pelc
@epelc
thats how i see it
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
good point.
Eric
@calidion
is there any feature plan or roadmap on angular material design?
Matt Traynham
@mtraynham
@calidion You could look at the milestones, but it's been suggested those are not deadlines. https://github.com/angular/material/milestones
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
there still seems to be that "required" bug where the fields turn red even though they aren't invalid yet...
Eric
@calidion
@mtraynham thanks. It seems they are based on issues. Does the team have their own attitudes on how they will plan the material design besides the issues?
Matt Traynham
@mtraynham
@calidion I can't speak for the material team. But... my guess is there will be a lot of movement to get things working with the release of Angular 2.x, so they can be shipped at the same time. The new angular website already uses the alpha/beta version.
Paraphrased... "Here have this new 10x faster framework, and oh look, all these nice components work with it."
But I don't even think the Angular2 team knows when they will release, so we're all sort of in limbo. I would consider that milestone page, a probably done roadmap...
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I've been here since around 0.4 or 0.5 and the milestones are usually on time or within a few days. But I've also noticed alot of issue get pushed back(however if anything is ever added it always seems to be to the next milestone instead of a realistic milestone to begin with)
Eric
@calidion
@mtraynham thanks for the message about this new angular website. i hope angular material design team will focus on angular 1.x now. it is quite simple and inadequate now.
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
anyone have issues with ngSubmit not firing within a form with <md-button>`s?
when you press ENTER?
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
nevermind, bug on my end :)
Eric
@calidion
can md-icon use any type of images?
Kacper Dela
@kdela
Hi guys. Do you know how's that type of menu is called?

@tkhemani
Hi, from ng-conf, i gathered that angular material 1.0 will support Angular 1.X. Is that true?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
it is already using angular 1.x
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
Also, now that Angular 2.0 plays well with web components, does it make sense to use Angular Material with ng 2.x? Wouldn't you use Polymer Elements etc. instead?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I'd wait for angular 2.x to mature a bit. It isn't anywhere near prod ready
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
yes, but with 2.x, would there be any place for angular material, specially coz Polymer and stuff are more advanced..
Ed Pelc
@epelc
angular-material is probably going to update to 2.x they made the new angular site with it anyways
I think you can already use it with 2.x but I havn't tried yet
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
has anyone tried using polymer with ng 2.0 alpha?
i've been at it for hours and can't seem to get it to work
any help/direction is appreciated...
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
Material for Angular 2 is already underway as a parallel effort, 1x will continue on however. There is quite a lot of work still to be done, and Angular 1x will continue to be supported.
Polymer with ng2.0 alpha seems like a potential for wasted effort IMO, so much is still in flux
Ed Pelc
@epelc
@marcysutton do you know if they are going to make it easy to upgrade angular-material if you switch to angular 2
