Hi, from ng-conf, i gathered that angular material 1.0 will support Angular 1.X. Is that true?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
it is already using angular 1.x
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
Also, now that Angular 2.0 plays well with web components, does it make sense to use Angular Material with ng 2.x? Wouldn't you use Polymer Elements etc. instead?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I'd wait for angular 2.x to mature a bit. It isn't anywhere near prod ready
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
yes, but with 2.x, would there be any place for angular material, specially coz Polymer and stuff are more advanced..
Ed Pelc
@epelc
angular-material is probably going to update to 2.x they made the new angular site with it anyways
I think you can already use it with 2.x but I havn't tried yet
tarun khemani
@tkhemani
has anyone tried using polymer with ng 2.0 alpha?
i've been at it for hours and can't seem to get it to work
any help/direction is appreciated...
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
Material for Angular 2 is already underway as a parallel effort, 1x will continue on however. There is quite a lot of work still to be done, and Angular 1x will continue to be supported.
Polymer with ng2.0 alpha seems like a potential for wasted effort IMO, so much is still in flux
Ed Pelc
@epelc
@marcysutton do you know if they are going to make it easy to upgrade angular-material if you switch to angular 2
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
I would imagine so, as work is already being done to port it
But I wouldn't count on it happening right away
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I expect it to take a while was just wondering if they were starting fresh
glad to hear they are just porting it though :)
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
Yep. It has actually been great, because we're finding things that should be refactored

Also cool to see how Shadow DOM will work in with the development process
I.e. trying to minimize CSS pain

I just got my css working with chromes auto reload and local edits in the dev console

hey guys, I really want to contribute to this awesome project, but not sure how... We do not have "PR please" label and I'm not sure where or how to start... Any help please? Are you looking for contributors?
Ed Pelc
@epelc
@yanivefraim you can fix my issues :) https://github.com/angular/material/issues/created_by/epelc I report alot of them most of them are minor things
Yaniv Efraim
@yanivefraim
ok' i'll take a look (:

BTW you can look at the Angular weekly meeting notes to see progress on Material 1 & 2: https://docs.google.com/document/d/150lerb1LmNLuau_a_EznPV1I1UHMTbEl61t4hZ7ZpS0/
@yanivefraim here are some contributing guidelines: https://github.com/angular/material/blob/master/docs/guides/CONTRIBUTING.md
We aren't actively soliciting PRs, but if you find small issues that can be easily solved with a PR those are the best ones to tackle. Otherwise, reporting new issues after searching the existing ones is a big help

@calidion
it there any example on input for file uploading?
seshakiran
@seshakiran
hi guys...any one knows where I can find the themes.css file? seems to be missing in 0.8.3.
Matt Traynham
@mtraynham
@seshakiran It's generated at run-time and appended to the DOM, based on how you configure the angular service $mdThemingProvider https://material.angularjs.org/#/Theming/03_configuring_a_theme
seshakiran
@seshakiran
@mtraynham cool. earlier it was directly using the css I think. Do you know why it was changed specifically this way?
thanks @mtraynham. appreciate it. I am going to configure the app
Matt Traynham
@mtraynham
I havn't been around here long enough to know, but my guess is you don't need to use all the themes so it only generates the one you need. Looks like this was the start of that change: https://github.com/angular/material/commit/e4723487373fe04ccd48788bb294cb1323ce746b#diff-057e31671fc3e850b00608694bf7599d
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
@seshakiran the themes CSS has to be generated by JS, it was a strategy to limit the amount of CSS going over the wire
seshakiran
@seshakiran
Thank you @marcysutton

@calidion
angular material is not working under wechat self contained browser
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
is that browser based on IE 6 ? :)
Eric
@calidion
must be based on webkit. but may not be that new.

Hi there, is md-floating-label outdated for md-autocomplete directive? I see it on home page, but can not find the documentation for it?
Cosmin Ronnin
@kosz
So I tried to implement this with Angular Material, but the md-progress-circular doesn't seem to want to sit around a button like that. Is this trick possible, or planned in Angular Material ?
Dave Ackerman
@dmackerman
@kosz: you probably have to create a wrapper container and absolutely position the loader behind the fab
Marcy Sutton
@marcysutton
@calidion we would need to know which flavor of Webkit, and it would only be supported if it was an n-1 version
Ghost
@ghost~5505633115522ed4b3dd48a6
Thanks guy for great work!!! I used angular-material for this chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/soundcloudify/boblphpidkohagaoinepjgecndchlnbk Hope you'll enjoy it!

@rhartzell
@ptgamr just installed the extension. Pretty awesome!

@dmackerman
do mdSidenavs have some sort of focus() when they open?
