@gauravsaini03
@sunnynegi Rather you can make a codepen and share how you are sdoing then everyone here can help
Ed Pelc
@epelc
I'll be on a computer soon to help if you have a codepen ready
Gaurav Saini
@gauravsaini03
Great, @sunnynegi you are lucky. Just get the codepen ready soon :)

@peduxe
ey all, is anyone there using the following workflow:
gulp and browserify?
I've got extremely long bundling times for angular and angular-material
currently looking for a way to optimize it
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
How long does it take?
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
about 12s
it watches for changes, bundles all files from a src folder, writes to dest folder
then restarts browser sync
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
Hm, I am using browserify’s watchify to bundle all files and it take just 2.8 initially and then just about 0.36 seconds.
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
ehm do you mind sharing the recipe? :D
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
It’s nothing spectacular… watchify -v -t coffeeify --extension='.coffee' -d ./app/index.coffee -o ./app.js
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
oh ey, in actual code :D
I throw in babelify as well
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
But maybe your project is way bigger than mine… I currently have 2200 lines of code all written in coffeescript
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
nope my project is small
I was toying now with es6 and angular, decided to give angular material a shout
it's really small really, ~400 lines
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
And you already figured out that the build process take that much time because of material?
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
but since the beginning i've been having slow bundle times
hm, I will test that
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
Gulp is triggering your browserify?
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
yes
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
Well, than you may have better times using watchify instead of gulp
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
oh yes
it was angular material
I guess I will just import it in the html file
Patrick Finkbeiner
@pfinkbeiner
:thumbsup:
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
from ~160 to ~60
angular material is a monster
sunny
@sunnynegi
Hello everyone, I am using material design, but recently I am facing one problem that my UI starts to freeze. So I am not able to use the entire app.
Alex Cruz
@peduxe
are you using md list with the sticky header?
I guess it freezes in some angular versions
kingIZZZY
@kingIZZZY
hello
why don't y'all have an IRC channel?
also i'm finding it very uphill difficult to get even basics figured out... :( insufficient tutorials or docs, or something
what structural elements do i need to make my desired layout? how should customizations be properly done (do i need to override some styling? or just use a different class/attribute) ? How to get the default icon pack, whats the difference between the svg/font alternatives and which one should i use when? why are my custom styles not working?......
kingIZZZY
@kingIZZZY
i may not be the most experienced with many other modern styling libraries (bootstrap or whatever) but when I need any info/tutorials on them I can find them (angular, bootstrap, php laravel etc.) but Angular Material Design is not very newcomer-friendly... :(
trying to scrape hints off inspecting elements and reading code... very hard uphill battle with very slow yield...
does anyone even use it? maybe not, maybe neither should i...
Ed Pelc
@epelc
@kingIZZZY We've been using it since september(around version 0.5.0). We took about a month to fully convert from bootstrap but now it works really nice for us and our app is a pretty good size now. We've also used it for our internal build tools interface.
@sunnynegi are you using md-select or md-menu? They had(not sure if it's fixed) some bugs in the recent release candidates that caused everything to freeze after you opened them.
sunny
@sunnynegi
@epelc not in md-select or md-menu . Md-autocomplete or sometime problem occur in click events
It's freeze the whole ui section.
