What's the best approach to have a white md-toolbar with dark text, icons, buttons, etc? I don't see any clean way to do it, apart from changing the color with !important declarations. Is custom theme with custom color the only way?
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@Ami190 what do you have right now? you're not going to get much help if all you do is show is the requirements. It makes it look like you want us to do your assignment for you.
@gebidesign the themes are already built into the framework. Choose the color palette you like and apply the colors that you want. Is pretty easy.

@Ami190
@tonyeung , I followed a stack overflow link and could generate the search on my local host
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@Ami190 so you're done?
Seema Goel
@Ami190
still struggling to host it on web., I am not sure if it will work online
tonyeung
@tonyeung
what's the struggle?
i don't understand why you're trying to host it
the requirements don't say you need to do so
has the instructor specified a delivery method?
Seema Goel
@Ami190
yes it is, ASSIGNMENT ACCEPTED AS A LINK NOT AS A ZIP FILE
I am new to hosting
tonyeung
@tonyeung
that wasn't in the requirements you posted afaict
Seema Goel
@Ami190
so trying Parse.com
tonyeung
@tonyeung
you can use something like codepen or jsfiddle
that way you don't have to deal with hosting stuff
Seema Goel
@Ami190
oh great Thanks

Does anyone have an example of a birthdate input validation (MM/DD/YY) using ng-material?
tonyeung
@tonyeung
isn't that just a date?
Miloš Stanić
@MilosStanic
is there a way to force browser to recalc element heights on ng-show/hide?
Miloš Stanić
@MilosStanic
never mind, solved problem, it wasn't the recalc of height
Atishay
@atishaybaid
md-card,image included in md-card fills the containers width,how to fix this?
tonyeung
@tonyeung
step 1, post a codepen
Atishay
@atishaybaid
@tonyeung issue resoved,if we dont use md-card-content then all images stretches to the container width

I've just tried to access https://material.angularjs.org/latest/ on mobile, and it just sucks. It is slow, the scroll lags, and much more. I've opened the github issues, and as far as I can see, the overall experience on mobile is terrible not just for me. Are there any plans to make the library work on mobile in near future?
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@korya do other frameworks have good performance on mobile? AFAICT, if you want native performance on mobile right now, you either have to go native or have static html
korya
@korya
@tonyeung it's not about native performance. I understand that mobile, at least android for sure, is very slow when it comes to js execution. But still there are a lot of web sites out there working pretty well. In fact our web site performs good enough on mobile with angular1, bootstrap and some more jquery plugins.
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@korya oh i see now. Have you tried doing a comparison between a pure angular site and an angular material site? I have not tried this, yet.
korya
@korya
Exactly. ng material experience on mobile is terrible. I understand that the project is young, and a stable version was released just a month ago. My question is what is the priority of this issue (performance on mobile) and are there any plans to improve it in near releases? for example, in next 3 month.
I just could not find any road map in the github repo
There are more than 1K issues on github, and it's really hard to see the big picture of the project
tonyeung
@tonyeung
you should probably look at the issue tags and see if there are any relating to performance
i just use it, so i don't know what the devs have planned
korya
@korya
do the devs hang out here sometimes?
tonyeung
@tonyeung
I don't konw
korya
@korya
OK, anyway thanks
Tim
@4tron
@korya You saying that the website for angular material sucks on mobile && || developing with angular material for mobile sucks? this is an open source project though , so like .. its free and shit.
korya
@korya
@4tron I appreciate the work done so far by the team and the community. In a very short period of time they made it happen. My main issue is what next? OK, the first milestone is done. There is a stable release that works fine on desktop. But what are the next goals? is it to port it to angular2? is it to optimize it for mobile? is there any roadmap for the project? that what concerns me the most regarding that project
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@4tron i don't think @korya 's concerns are overblown or unreasonable. ngMaterial is google's baby. They have a rep to keep and a standard to uphold. There should be some sort of roadmap published to build confidence in the project's staying power... Even if there are 1k+ issues...

@jmls
hey. does anyone know of a material-themed popover/help/tooltip widget for angular-material ? Similar to the bootstrap popover
thanks
tonyeung
@tonyeung
@jmls did you look at their demos?
Doug Franklin
@Imaginativeone
would someone help me with a particular directive?
I'm interested in making an "indent on swipe-right"
Kyle Roach
@iRoachie
anyone’s had any luck passing in an angular 1.5 component as the template for $mdDialog?
Doug Franklin
@Imaginativeone
iRoachie: Yes
In particular, indirectly, via Angular-Formly
Felix Becker
@felixfbecker
@iRoachie You should be able to set template: "<my-component/>"
Kyle Roach
@iRoachie
didn’t work for me. Angular material creates a md-dialog over my component because it looks for <md-dialog> as a top level element. As a workaround i made an attribute directive instead.
template: "<md-dialog my-component/>
