The problem is that those cards have no vertical spacement between each other
The code i used is that: https://hastebin.com/roweverela.xml
Is there a better way to display a list of cards? Like using a mat-grid-list or something else?

Does anyone know of a way to prevent a mat-menu from opening when the matMenuTriggerFor element is clicked? I only want my menu to open if I programmatically call this.trigger.openMenu();

Good morning Guys, Has anyone worked with WEBHOOKS to get the real time update, I am trying to implement ZIP WHIP webhook in my angular application. The goal is to receive an update whenever someone sends me a tex message . My knoewledge for webhooks is very limited, what I know is we need to add a URL(which will receive all the new messages) I don't know how will I integrate my webhook to my UI or DO i need server side implentation here. Any here is appreciated. :)

Hi all !!
i have an issue about mat-icon in angular material
in my App component i registered a list of icon with the appropriate path like this :

export class AppComponent { title = 'app'; constructor( private matIconRegistry: MatIconRegistry, private domSanitizer: DomSanitizer ) { this.matIconRegistry.addSvgIcon("logo", this.domSanitizer.bypassSecurityTrustResourceUrl("assets/logo.svg") ); this.matIconRegistry.addSvgIcon("folder", this.domSanitizer.bypassSecurityTrustResourceUrl("assets/icons/folder.svg") ); this.matIconRegistry.addSvgIcon("favourites", this.domSanitizer.bypassSecurityTrustResourceUrl("assets/icons/favourites.svg") ); } }

and i Use it in other component in this way :

<mat-icon svgIcon="folder"></mat-icon> <mat-icon svgIcon="favourites"></mat-icon>

i don't know why the same svg ("folder") as icon is showing

Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
@gerome0123 that will be easier in 1.1.11 as we’ve added md-tab-class as documented here: https://material.angularjs.org/HEAD/api/directive/mdTab.

Hi Angularians,
I'm making a big transition migrating from AngularJS 1.5.x directly to Angular 6. Looks like I've been in long hibernation and now the whole thing has changed. Typescript??? really!! and wth are Observables!!?? I know Directives are now Components, Filters became Pipes, how do I go about creating a base model (or a service) and inherit the basic CRUD operations from sub services? heeeeeelp!
codymikol
@codymikol
Look into ngUpgrade
Really there is no simple conversion, you’ll have to be ok with running both frameworks while upgrading one component at a time
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
@zahirkelloud This Quick Reference will help you translate/convert concepts: https://angular.io/guide/ajs-quick-reference
@zahirkelloud this is the upgrade guide that works with AngularJS Material: https://angular.io/guide/upgrade-performance
@zahirkelloud This Tutorial is more in-depth and can get you up to speed with Angular pretty quickly: https://angular.io/tutorial
Zee (Zahir) Kelloud
@zahirkelloud
@codymikol Thanks for the hint. I know there's no simple way. but i'm trying not only to change the code but also modify the entire structure of my application to adapt to the new modularity thing.
@Splaktar thanks for the links !! The quick reference is great idk how I missed that. I understand most of the new features but I'm used to modules like $http and $q which handle and return promises and now there's HttpClient which returns Observables. I have this parent model (service) that takes care of the CRUD operations and handles responses and errors and then I have child models which uses the parent model as a dependency. I'm trying to take that into the new Observables thing
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
@zahirkelloud I’ve found that it’s best to have your Services only do minimal error handling (like retries) and return Observables. Then any kind of fatal errors should be handled by the components which can actually show the error to the user in the proper way.
gerome0123
@gerome0123
anyone tried md-select with in md-select for example i have md-select folders then i have folder with in the folder
trying to search but there are no example in the google any idea how can i start this?
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
@gerome0123 I don’t think that would work well. What are you trying to build? Have you looked at md-menu? You could also look at using md-panel to build yourself a custom component w/ a dropdown/popup (panel).
Zee (Zahir) Kelloud
@zahirkelloud
@Splaktar Thank!!! I may be wrong but I think you meant the other way around. Retries should be seen by the user, whereas, fatals should be logged in the backend but display a version with less details for the user. But there's a number of ways this aspect of UX could be approached depending on the size and design pattern of a given app. But that's not an issue for me since I have different layers of error handling and the UX is just fine. The above example is just a flake of the project I'm working on. PS: I just noticed I'm on angular/material rather than angular/angular.js room. I hope I didn't cause any disturbance in your topics. But I do appreciate your help :)

is there any way to make angular material data table responsive
Michael Prentice

@Ahmedgadd can you link to the specific data table that you are referring to? AngularJS Material doesn’t have a data table.

Hi Guys :) I've just upgraded to the angular material 7. Im currently struggling with the removal of the mat-elevation usage from component stylesheets. The changelog specify that:

Because mat-elevation usages have been moved out of component stylesheets, users who have not invoked a theme mixin will not see any elevation shadows on Material components. However, users that have created a custom theme which lacks the elevation property will still see the default black shadows.

Does that mean that only the prebuilt themes will have elevation enabled out of the box? Also, is there a way how to enable elevation of my custom theme? I originally followed the https://material.angular.io/guide/theming, however there is no mention to enabling elevations.
