    @nomadtechie
    great thank you!

    Long story short, swagger-tools started out as a CLI and grew into a crappy API, CLI and middleware.
    I've been trying to split them into separate packages. Sway is the API portion, it's very complete and stable.

    @nomadtechie
    nice.

    @whitlockjc
    The sway-based CLI and sway-based middleware are coming, and are here respectively: https://github.com/whitlockjc/swagger-lint and https://github.com/whitlockjc/sway-connect
    But since my day job no longer has me working on these things, it's been slow going.

    @nomadtechie
    so is there any option to use 3.0 and use a live validation tool?
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    I do have some work time now, a 20% project, and some people helping so this should change soon.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    gotcha...
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    There is no 3.0 support. As for live validation tool...what do you mean? The old swagger-editor used Sway for it's live validation.

    @nomadtechie
    is apigee going to turn over this project to the swagger-api?
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    No.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    (sorry, I meant adding a validator into my middleware so I can avoid duplication of code..ie. reducing boilerplate)
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    swagger-api is ran by SmartBear and is not really a neutral place for storing code related to OpenAPI, or so I was told.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    wow..so
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    Oh, gotcha. swagger-node uses Sway to do its middleware. Might be worth looking at how they do this.
    I don't speak for Apigee, or Google...who acquired Apigee nearly a year ago.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    right..thats what i've been prototyping with right now
    but i was trying to get on 3.0 which set me off the path of swagger-node
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    We'll get 3.0 support soon. The plan is to get sway released with fixes, and json-refs upgrade. Then work on 3.0 support.
    With myself and a few Googlers working on it, it should come together quickly.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    what i'm finding confusing about the swagger eco system is all the options...and also having some projects officially maintained and not others.
    and the lack of support for 3.0..
    ironically for a documentation tool the docs could use some love.
    end of rant.
    :)
    do u still work for Apigee?
    also, would u be willing to come on a podcast and talk about swagger and sway?
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    There is no officially supported, only the assumption of such. Just because it's in swagger-api does not make it better or more supported. It just depends on which projects you use and why. ;)
    Yes, I work for Google. They acquired Apigee.
    I wouldn't mind joining a podcast.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    makes sense. thanks for the clarification!
    A podcast would be really helpful and maybe you can link to it in the readme if we cover enough FAQs
    same alias on twitter? I'll reach out to u there if so
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    I do think you bring up a point that was contentious after Swagger was acquired by SmartBear. By not contributing the OSS code to a thirdparty, or the OAI, the assumption is that tools in swagger-api are best of breed or somewhat officially supported. It's a shame that's the case.
    But maybe that will change.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    well that is certainly the impression
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    And everyone other than SmartBear seems to think that's an issue. But that's a topic for another day.
    :D
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    and I'm new to swagger so this is totally going off SEO and the 'official' swagger site.
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    I need to eat.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    go eat -- thank u for the clarification :)

    I'd love to help in your OpenAPI (formerly known as Swagger) ventures. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
    Amal Hussein
    @nomadtechie
    yes!
    i'm happy to contribute
    But I need to learn my around the eco system as well (chicken-egg)

    Just popping in as im curious about the status of the upcoming sway release? The swaggerfile I have to work with contains some circular references and I'd love to get access to the circular reference resolution in json-refs 3.0.0

    @whitlockjc
    This week or next.

    Hi room, hope someone can help, I am trying to build a nodejs web application based on swagger, and after being terribly frustrated with the outdated template generated for express in the swagger-tools I wondered if anyone could advise what the best supported framework for swagger might be? if you were writing an interface now, what would you use?
    Jeremy Whitlock
    @whitlockjc
    swagger-tools doesn't generate templates for Express. sway is pretty good and could easily become some simple middleware. I've started this but I've not had a lot of time recently.
