hmm, the wvw endpoint is only cached for 1 second right?
otherwise that seconds since last flip isn't really helpful :D

more OT: anyone here using a 4K display on desktop? or is it just too huge?
i think about either buying a 1440px or a 2160px - any recommendations?

@Archomeda

still using 1080p as main and a 1680x1050 as second :disappointed:
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 12:50
well, basically the same here
i thought about getting a 27" Eizo 1980x1200, but 4K... such pixels... much wow

27" Eizo 1980x1200

don't. I have only a 23'' 1980x1200 (16:10 ftw), and the pixels are still too big. I'm just too used to my macbook with retina screen, which is so much nicer

well, a friend of mine has an iiyama 27" 16:10 which i find quite nice, it's just that iiyama's quality has decreased over the years

Eizo is great, but 27'' is too big for just 1980x1200

i uhhh am getting old :glasses:
(no for serious, my eyes are still pretty good :D)
@Archomeda yeah, it's only a 1 second cache.

every time when i want to buy a new display, i'm scared of getting a screen with defect (sub)pixels :disappointed:
i mean, this is just ridiculous: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2
when i buy a display, i expect to get one without any defect pixels
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:26
well, automated processing is a bitch
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:28
still, even if you have 1 defect pixel, you're gonna notice it
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:28
if manufacturers would only sell 100% pixel-perfect displays, they'd probably trash 95% of the production
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:28
and it will annoy the crap out of me :(
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:28
otherwise they just trash 75%
I don't think the yields are that low
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:29
(i forgot the sarcasm tags)
but then again I know nothing about manufacturing process
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:29
you would at least expect that the technology has advanced quite a lot since that ISO standard has been made
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:29
well, i've worked in CNC machining and produced parts for microprocessor plants at AMD and Intel
so i know at least a little about the whole process :D
like, how machining the parts influences the overall yield of the process
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:31
but yeah, i generally don't like the gamble that i have to take when buying a new display :(
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:32
yea, it's a bit unsatisfactory for customers, though
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:33
(i actually have to clean my screen, it's a bit dirty because of my cat that used to sneeze on it...)
smiley
@codemasher
May 20 2016 17:34
see, and that makes the whole argument about defect pixels moot
Archomeda
@Archomeda
May 20 2016 17:34
:sob:
this display is quite old now though :D

@codemasher

now gw2 needs to support it :D

i do wonder how they'll do that with multiplayer games, since it specifically states that when you activate ansel, it pauses the game

@smiley, my Dell U2412M screens came with zero dead pixel guarantee
so I suppose for dell to make such a claim, they must be pretty confident in their panels
(or actually, LG's panels, whatever)
