I am so torn, on one side I really wanna give back to content creators and dont mind watching ads
but ads are becoming so obnoxious
and privacy invading

I've started blocking ads years ago, I never regretted it
I just find it annoying that they've started detecting your adblocker and sometimes even blocked access if you did use an adblocker
At which point I'm like... well, if you don't allow me access, good riddance
If I don't want unwanted content on a webpage, I'll block it. I have rights to do so.
I'll choose whatever is on my screen
Same thing with blocking ads in mobile apps really
They always put them at places where you have to click on them, accidentally or not, and I hate that

Most of the sites with ads on mobile that I've gone to end up just taking over the whole page for 10 seconds

I dont generally agree with that, you cannot watch TV without ads, buy a magazine without ads etc. but no actual blockers exist for that. I see the need for advertisements, thats just their way of revenue and I fully get that websites will deny you access if you are not making them money. I just dont like the struggle between my privacy and my desire to be supportive of those businesses

I just don't like obtrusive ads
and I don't watch tv anymore nowadays
and I don't read magazines at all :P
At least for the tv you can just do other stuff, you can skip things in magazines, but some websites make it so that a popup appears etc
That's why I also dislike websites that want me to sign up for their emails and stuff... they force a popup when I'm just reading an article
It's just that if there's a way to remove the most annoying ads like flash and images without removing the text ads, sure, give me it and I'll support a website
But it's basically those websites that get screwed over by the others

I think some of the worst offenders are the websites that publically display articles..but only the first two paragraphs. Then you have to register.
(Even moreso the ones that are smart enough that you can't outwit with inspect element)
Also, advent of code seriously kicked it up a notch on the 11th
Jeez..
