Mar 17 2017 00:14
Some things people use it for are weird as well, I have one guy in my analytics that clearly uses electron or similar to crawl about 2k crafted items for their prices... I mean scraping is not cool and stuff, but why not just use the internal API if you want to scrape, it's just one developer tools inspection away, instead of spawning an entire browser and hitting each page on it's own...
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Mar 17 2017 00:15
wtf
rate limits maybe?
Darqam
@Darqam
Mar 17 2017 00:15
my guess is someone uses a bot that they don't understand
David Reeß
@queicherius
Mar 17 2017 00:16
I dont really mind, so I didn't go after it, it's just bizarre to me
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Mar 17 2017 00:16
hm alright
but indeed, why use electron for this
if you want to scrape a webpage, why not use a library for that in your favorite language

windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 12:35
yeah but I wanna know if they have LWS2 Exx for example
(thinking about making an "How do I armor" page)
(too many questions on "how to get vipers/berserkers/...")
(or, "is fractals cheaper then crafting")
smiley
@codemasher
Mar 17 2017 12:36
ah^^
via the achievements?
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 12:37
yeah that would be a valid hack
smiley
@codemasher
Mar 17 2017 12:37
you get an achievement for each LS, dontcha?
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 12:37
but requires someone to get at least a single achievie?
smiley
@codemasher
Mar 17 2017 12:39
but then again, yea, i think the LS data could be somehow exposed. isn't there the UI ingame where you can unlock previous chapters? that's what we need :D
Archomeda
@Archomeda

there is /v2/stories and /v2/stories/seasons but there's no account endpoint for that

I started wondering about source code language (the natural language!) today, we write most code in English. But what about nintendo ead, is Breath of the Wild filled with japanese function names?

Mar 17 2017 16:04
didn't they add support for emojis in Swift?
haha I ain't picking ;D thought it was cool
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 16:06
C for one requires [a-zA-Z]
And then [a-zA-Z0-9]+
For its identifiers
Oh and underscores
Werdes
@werdes
Mar 17 2017 16:56
"So what feature do we need in swift next?" - "emoji in variable names would be nice"
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 16:58
nintendo's recruitement process is pretty interesting
for one, you have to hand-fill in a pretty detailed form and send it by snail-mail
and thats obviously in japanese

Hello hello!
Guys is there any way I can search for an item name?
Using the API
Darqam
@Darqam
Mar 17 2017 17:24
not directly, but if you use the shiny api you can: https://www.gw2shinies.com/doc-api
Rômulo Quadros

Thanks, this is what I wanted: https://www.gw2shinies.com/api/json/idbyname/
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Mar 17 2017 17:44
why would you search for one name when you could just pull all the names for all the ids in /items?
darthmaim
@darthmaim

clientside autocomplete for example
without having your own server/database

Eearslya Sleiarion

Mar 17 2017 18:07
On the official API? That's intentional.
Rômulo Quadros

Eearslya Sleiarion
@Eearslya
Mar 17 2017 18:08
There are unofficial APIs that do that. Or crawl the APi and make your own DB, as many of us have
no
gitter
thanks for inlining that gitter
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 18:09
pls
lol
@romuloquadros anyway, the official API will probably never provide a searchable interface, for silly technical reasons

darthmaim
@darthmaim
Mar 17 2017 18:10

windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 18:10
they need to delete their private keys from the source first
darthmaim
@darthmaim
Mar 17 2017 18:10
We have a little bit of work to do to remove some internal configuration and operating parameters from the Gitter source code. We expect to have this completed and to move the code over to GitLab.com no later than June 2017.

windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 18:11
(also, this is one of the ways of paging through the API, the other one is using ?page=<number>)
Rômulo Quadros
@romuloquadros
Mar 17 2017 18:11
Yeap, I know, I'll use gw2shinies to search and prob the rest in the official API
I'll see
@romuloquadros you can dump out all of the data from /v2/items by making paginated requests, e.g. /v2/items?page=0&page_size=200; the total number of pages is returned as a response header (X-Page-Total I think)?
Archomeda
@Archomeda

the gist I just posted does a similair thing
but then on the stupid way!
Eearslya Sleiarion
@Eearslya
Mar 17 2017 18:11
they have to call in the git wizards to strip the keys from every past commit
Darqam

windwarrior
@windwarrior
Mar 17 2017 18:13
yep, stylish, cursor: auto !muchmuchmuchmuchmuchimportant
darthmaim
@darthmaim
Mar 17 2017 18:13

Archomeda

i just want to block external cursors
meh, i'll just write a specific case for qt for now until i've found a generic solution

@Eearslya
Mar 17 2017 18:16
Dammit, I had to go and look at gitlab's site, now I'm tempted to move away from github
I'm never gonna actually write code

This vulnerability has an iconic name and also its own website, which classifies it as an undisputed critical vulnerability.
