also, do the map designers know that if you stand in the right section of salvation pass (on that mastery), it overlaps with Spirit Vale, and you are actually in Spirit Vale for what the map considers you to be in? :P

the only thing i have since a few weeks, is just not being able to log in the first time i start the client; have to restart it and then it magically works
oh well
before the patcher fully loads up it fetches the new executable and replaces itself
it might have fizzled out during that process

my guess is that there's a switch for different error messages, like default login error and wrong password error, but it clears the password for all instead of only the wrong password
at least, that's the feeling i get :smile:

Okay, so I restarted the launcher 10 times and I think I know how to reproduce it. It starts in english for me, and switches to german after 1s or so. If I click login while its still english, it tries to connect for a few seconds and then errors, if I wait until it switched to german it seems to always work

it is a rare occasion that it happens though; like it seems to happen 10-20% of the time, but higher chances if i haven't been logged in for a while

Both Google Authenticator and Blizzard's official authenticator use the open-standard "TOTP" for authentication codes. However, they use it in different modes. Google only uses 6-digit codes, while Blizzard uses 8-digit codes.

the nice thing about the steam app is, that it creates a push notification when you need a code and you don't have to open the app
sadly its not marked as sensitive content and you can view it without unlocking

i have this enabled globally on my phone, and it hides basically everything of every app (also regular steam chat messages); but somehow it doesn't work for steam 2FA :P

@2FA: I like sms because there is a clear path to recovery of codes when I lose/break/otherwise destroy access to my authentication device
My phone number is a registered thing to me personally
But for GW2 I happen to use Google Auth
(BTW: What I still dislike of GW2s approach is the lack of fallback options...)
Also I have the same bug and it appears to be a racecondition type thing
If I dont spam the login button immediately it will not error on me

Okay good. I walked 5000 units ingame (per the waypoint hover text until it said "5000 away" - i.e. 5000 inches or 417 feet). Coordinate difference was 207 on the GPS. Which works out as a conversion ratio of 5000:207, or roughly 24:1. .. which is the same as what I was asking about the other week
so Tyria is 12.5 miles across o.o
