Pretty sure its the first time I broke down and used gold->gems for keys. Bought a batch of 25. No luck. only 1 single '4th' slot. Wound up with primers.

I saw a discussion about steam controllers.
I need a new controller for my pc, since my Xbox360 aren't responding well anymore.

should i go, steam controller, xbox360, or xbox One?

smiley
@codemasher
Apr 19 2017 15:29
even without having used an xbox controller, i'd say: go with it
the steam controller is quite nice but it's far from perfect
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 15:32
i'm probably biased towards the steam controller
smiley
@codemasher
Apr 19 2017 15:32
the stick is like a little stump (although quite precise), the 4 buttons are super small (pressing all 4 with the thumb might come in handy sometimes, though)
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 15:32
it really depends what you want to use it for
smiley
@codemasher
Apr 19 2017 15:33
not to mention, the buttons underneath are linked with 2 of the 4 top buttons which can make you crazy
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 15:33
well, i like not having large buttons; my logitech f710 has large buttons and it doesn't even trigger sometimes when you press it
smiley
@codemasher
Apr 19 2017 15:34
but that's not a matter of the size, isn't it?
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 15:34
but then again, that controller is an xbox controller disguised as a ps2 controller
well, ps3 maybe
dunno
not really, but because they are large, you have to press it really hard before it registers the press
i mean the size in height here actually

but that's about it
in any case, whatever you do
don't buy a logitech f710

trust me
smiley

Apr 19 2017 15:51
heh, was just asked ingame what they best way is to get hot mastery points
checked the list on the wiki, but i think you can get more than 175 maguuma mastery points?
there's 181 elements, but it says 175 :P
which is also weird, since i think i can get up to 177... wth
unless there are 4 hidden achievements that i don't know about... hm
are you planning on adding pet skills to v2/skills?
@madou I think pet skills are already whitelisted

sorry I'm late to the party with this one, but per guild WvW K/D stats, is that going to be an API endpoint?

@rikkuness yeah, once all the kinks are worked out of the backend implementation. I'll draft a PR later this week.

ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:12
api has 81 core tyria and 176 maguuma
14 of core tyria don't count because they're personal story repeats
so i guess the wiki is missing one >.<
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:20
well that would be really quick to figure out if the wiki had written down the achievement ids
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 18:21
eh, there are 177 for me to get
i have used 132, 40 leftover, and 5 achievements left with a mastery point
wait

no ingame stuff please.. take the api as fact initially :D

oh my garbage script has ignored the quotes from the api
nvm
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 18:23
haha
but yeah, i remember i got a hidden mastery point from some event in VB
i think i was doing the HOPE collection that required that event
that hidden mastery point might be the 177th
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:24
wiki was missing Head of the Snake
@lye, is there any chance you can check if there's a hidden achievement that just doesn't show up ingame?
so yeah @ChieftainAlex, you can probably add a note there about that hidden mastery point
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:27
yeah sure you can add it
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 18:29
hmm, let's see if i can find a way to make the note consistent with the core tyria note
[...]
css is such a mess

ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:34
oh were you thinking of adding it above the table?
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 18:35
yeah, where the number is shown
if that's alright
think this should be correct {{#ifeq: {{{1|}}} | Heart of Maguuma | Note that there is an extra hidden mastery point from [[Defeat Mayatl the Fierce]] that gets awarded inconsistently. }}
oh, there's a {{#switch}}
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex
Apr 19 2017 18:36

Apr 19 2017 19:41
some achievements ingame not showing up is a feature right
uhh maybe
I actually can't recall the reason an achievement that you've gotten would show up in the API but not in-game
There's a good number of achievements that won't show up in-game until after you've gotten them though
But RE: achievements awarding a mastery point, it's altogether possible that two achievements in the API reward the same mastery point
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:49
yes, those are the personal story ones
the racial stories
hmm, that makes sense.
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:49
but https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_Mayatl_the_Fierce awards a mastery point, but there's no achievement :D
at least, not a visible one ;)
Lemme see if I can dig that up
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:50
more of a content problem, rather than an api problem
yeah uhh, there's no achievement for that
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:52
lol
the event's script has an "on participation" hook that gives you the mastery point directly if you don't already have it
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:52
wat
why
;-;
literally no idea
all of the other ones I've seen use achievements so that ... you know, you can actually see whether or not you've got it
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:53
the rest is literally all achievements, but that one is the only one that's different :D

Archomeda

maybe early design
maybe
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:54
as a test, but forgot to remove it
the annoying bit is that since this isn't hooked up to the progress system, adding an achievement for it wouldn't retroactively track it
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:54
really?
yeah
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:54
that's annoying
i would have guessed that the same id could be used

the way mastery points normally work is

trigger -> set a progress counter -> achievement complete -> achievement reward grants mastery point -> mastery point bit set

this one works via

trigger -> mastery point bit set
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Apr 19 2017 19:56
(many achievements are hidden, because you need to "discover some secret")
since there's no mapping from mastery point bit to progress counter there'd be no clean way to set the achievement progress :/
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Apr 19 2017 19:56
(like: visit this cool place in this and this map)
(jump off this tower into a small bucket of water)
@Archomeda the catch is that /v2/account/masteries exposes the mastery point bits
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Apr 19 2017 19:56
thats the mastery point in Not So Secret q.q
uh diving goggles
The mastery point id for that specific event is 126
So you should be able to tell from the API whether or not an account has completed it
(orz)
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 19:59
wait, we have a separate masteries endpoint?
There isn't a /v2/masteries, but /v2/achievements has mastery ids that can be cross-referenced against /v2/account/masteries
wait
no
goddammit
maybe there should be one
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 20:03
the /v2/account/masteries is just the unlocked masteries :P
not points haha
#497 -- I need a name for the endpoint
/v2/account/masterypoints ?

completely unrelated to the api, but since people here are also playing wvw; have you sometimes noticed that after the server lag is gone, it tries to catch up and your character is actually attacking as if it has quickness, but without quickness?
Werdes
@werdes
Apr 19 2017 21:07
Like attack-rubberbanding? I remember something like that, but i thought it was more of an animation issue rather than actually attacking faster.
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 21:11
possibly? at least for me everything that's dependent on the server goes way faster, even mining some gathering nodes (although that animation is still the same speed)
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Apr 19 2017 21:31
you know when you lag, everything stands still or walks into a wall for a while
and then your connection restores
and EVERYTHING_AT_ONCE
is it that?
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Apr 19 2017 21:35
nope
i mean lag as in server skill lag in wvw

windwarrior
@windwarrior
