@ChieftainAlex the current guide has been hand drawn with Photoshop vectors (also aren't perfect). However I'm slowly converting everything to GeoJSON because the current PSD grew over 2gb in size and is starting to become a pain to edit.
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 10:04
cool
changing to geojson would also mean instant updates when new tiles go live :)
or... when you use the tiles api
that_shaman
@thatshaman
May 30 2017 10:21
I do use the tiles from the API for the base map but I've added loads of other stuff on top of it so I will still need to export my own tiles
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 10:28
that would probably be doable with google-maps-esque libraries
but if you made more edits to the tiles, its gonna be hard
hai gitter
you are eating my messages
First message [eaten by gitter]: I kinda thought you were only putting the polys, GW1 PoI/Mission/Dungeon/.. icons and the big decal on top of the map

Monster skills are not in the API right?
It might be cool to have the ones from Raid/Fractal bosses tho
because (at least) the Raids team actually did the effort of giving them meaningful tooltips
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 16:33
iirc the plan was to carry out the new tool tips to all previous raid bosses as well, not sure if that will ever actually happen though
but no monster skills are not on api
@windwarrior whitelisting only the raid/fractal boss skills would be terribly difficult
also those skills weren't ever meant to be shown so they may contain ... inappropriate content
I haven't really looked at them but some of the monster skill icons are interesting
Darqam
@Darqam

they're not that interesting

Conventional? Have there been some new swears made up in Anet HQ?
Maybe? I don't really play PvE content so I'm kind of out of the loop

@lye well, wing 4 has skills with nice tooltips so that you can actually see what hit you and what you did wrong in your combat log
thats why I was suggesting exposing them :)
if that becomes a trend that is

May 30 2017 17:56
http://prntscr.com/fdwz8f this is why we can't have nice things alex
and that's ONLY for consumable items
@windwarrior oh, fair, hmm. I wonder if all monster skills are displayed in tooltips these days.

maybe a new horrible hack new exciting tech
oh there's a Combat Log Data Link flag
I can add those to the whitelist.
hmm actually some of these might not work with my skill serializers
Mind Crush, for example, isn't hooked up to a skill palette -- it's triggered directly via a script
is the saul demon thingy a prop boss?
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:01
half
the last 10% is a structure type thing
pretty sure prop boss skills don't work the same way as character skills
e.g. they don't have the whole slot business
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:02
(as in if you mean by prop boss: "being an annoying structure with big targets floating somewhere")
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:02
deimos skills are really weird
deimos is the main boss, but there are multiple entities called Deimos
@windwarrior yeah those are internally called prop bosses.
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:04
although prop boss Deimos has the same skills as normal boss deimos, so that should be fine
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:04
yeah, but suddenly more health :')
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:04
we pretend we don't notice that to make the devs happy
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:04
prop boss deimos is really cool
as in story wise
but mechanical its a bit meh now
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:05
mechanically it's a pain in the ass
because those slams are done in such a silly way
they interupt your dodges half the time
oh right, @lye there's no way to get the API to recognize 'tonics' as a specific thing is there? Atm they are just 'generic' consumables. https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/8729

Scripts \o/
@Darqam the obvious approach (consumable which has an "apply transform" action within it's consume script) gets really hairy
since things like strawberry ghosts would be marked as a "tonic" by that
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:18
:/
I could add in a flag that's "potentially applies transform"
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 18:19
well so far I have a workaround with looking for type consumable and have the string tonic in the name, so I can get by, but it's not pretty
"item is maybe a tonic"
lol
well if you can, that'd be awesome, if not it's not the end of the world
lemme test this monster skill thingy
I might have to remove ?ids=all from /v2/skills
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:51
how would we go about getting them id's?
/v2/raids?
uhh
by enumerating all of /v2/skills
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 18:52
also fine
its mostly useful for boss guides and the wiki anyway
that can be hardcoded :)
JC123
@JC123
May 30 2017 19:46
do you have a skill id handy of a monster skill you're testing? just curious
uhh, sec
37613 is Mind Crush
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 19:49
I don't see that on live
yeah it's not currently exposed
but if you are reading the dat file it should be in there
JC123
@JC123
May 30 2017 19:50
i can look at it in gw2.dat tho
^^
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 19:50
oh, yeah that too
but effort
JC123
@JC123
May 30 2017 19:50
a lot more than expected, yes lol
gonna mark these with flags:["MonsterSkill"] I think then commit this
JC123
@JC123
May 30 2017 20:19
as confusing as the modular content system can be it must be way nicer to put everything in duo and just be able to "build it" and have the client load it vs in gw1 everything being hard coded

@JC123 hard coded = no build times. Lots of content = ?? build times
There are drawbacks to most choices (and pros ofc)

@ChieftainAlex
May 30 2017 21:09
You realise how neat the gw2 world map is when you try and stick together the gw1 world map. Having said that, the gw1 map lines up pixel perfect and the width ended up being an integer number of 256's. Also the maps api is awesome to avoid doing that for gw2.
yeah, the tonic flag is really hairy
it's marking stuff like Sealed Package of Snowballs as a tonic
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 21:30
oh well
thanks for at least looking at it, I'm sure theere are better ways to spend your time for the API than a tonic flag
actually that might be a bug
something is weird here
that item's script doesn't have the action that i'm switching on
yeah i'm a dummy
bool isTonic = false;

// Search scripts to look for transform, then set isTonic=true if found

out->Element("Flag", "Tonic");
gj @lye
darthmaim
@darthmaim
May 30 2017 21:33
:D
okay, submitted the Tonic flag stuff. It appears to work, but inspecting scripts is kind of dangerous waters
It'll mark any gizmo/consumable that applies a transform with Tonic; might be a couple of weird outliers
Darqam
@Darqam
May 30 2017 21:57
hmmmm
e.g. it would surprise me if some of the bundles you can get are actually transforms instead of bundles
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 22:00
I read that as transforms in bundles
I know anet likes double wrapping
but this badly
transforms and bundles are separate things
I don't remember the semantic difference
I wonder what "PRO MODE" is
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 22:07
its wget, probably... commandline
lol
windwarrior
@windwarrior
May 30 2017 22:10
only go deeper ... alright
that's -np
or it might be -nr; it's been a long time since I used wget's recursive options
