Anyone know where the wvw glicko system is explained? from what i can read, it is a modified version of glicko2, but can't find how it has been modified

as it stands right now, glicko isn't used anymore with the 1 up / 1 down system
at least, that's what i understand from the last patch notes

it still is, in the background

cause it will be using the glicko system after each world relink

wait did we already get the one up one down system?

Starting this Friday at reset, WvW will begin doing 1 up / 1 down matchmaking. This means a single, third-placing world will move down one tier and a single, first-placing world will move up one tier. If there is a tie for last, no world moves down, which also means no world in the tier below can move up (as there’s no room). Similarly, if there is a tie for first, no world moves up, which prevents the next tier up’s last-place world from moving down. If there is a change in which worlds are being used for matchmaking purposes (such as when world links change), matchmaking falls back on the usual Glicko rating sort (plus a potential deviation-based shuffle). Even while 1 up / 1 down is active, Glicko data will continue to be updated as it has been when each week’s round ends. This way it is always current when it needs to be relied upon.

fair, glicko is used for a short period after relinks

i somehow missed that line in the patch notes last time :(

well, to be fair, the linking algorithm isn't public I think (if it even is an algorithm)
Archomeda
@Archomeda

i doubt it is fully automated

millenium keeps track of the world's glicko, but there's no telling if their readings are 100% accurate I guess
unless someone coughlyecough could possibly read them
idk if that's allowed
i don't know if they're logged out; they probably are
iirc millenium isn't quite accurate
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Jun 26 2017 16:58
i'm completely clueless as to how this stuff is calculated
is the rating the glicko value? or a transformed value from glicko?
in any case, the ratings are slightly different if you compare millenium with the leaderboards
Eearslya Sleiarion
@Eearslya
Jun 26 2017 16:59
oh wait that is on the leaderboards
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Jun 26 2017 17:00
yes, but i'm pretty sure no one looked at it for 2 years at least :P https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/wvwmain

horrible feeling that my totally adequate GPU has some kind of compatibility issue between latest w10 build + gw2
i really shouldn't have to rollback the same windows update every time it tries it

no clue
i never had any issues with my GPU
maybe windows tries to install an incompatible driver?

@lye - could you take a look at item id 39341 for me? the wiki suggests its https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Triforge_Pendant_(ascended) but its not whitelisted which is odd (if its the correct id)
use postgresql :(
@ChieftainAlex whitelisted
ChieftainAlex
@ChieftainAlex

thanks. hopefully that id was correct then.. :D
yes and it comes with a nice $30k/year licensing fee
like why would you ever use mssql
smiley
@codemasher
Jun 26 2017 21:11
for development purposes? :D
i too like never deploying to prod
might as well use postgresql
ODBC driver would probably work too, fwiw

Jun 26 2017 21:12
(there's also sql server express which is for free)
(PDOSqlSrv runs via ODBC)
express has an excessively limited featureset
you might as well run postgresql
there's zero reason to ever run mssql
