yeah that's the same one
from my viewpoint, there's only one working reverse proxy in frankfurt, so maybe they updated the DNS to reflect that
windwarrior
@windwarrior

but that reverse proxy cannot access the actual API server in Dallas?
and thats why it 404s?
Eearslya Sleiarion

I'd wager it doesn't even try; if it geodns's to frankfurt, it probably only tries the EU servers

there's API servers in both dallas and frankfurt
they're both whole stacks (for almost everything)
so you connect to the one that geodns points you at

if you don't want your ip to be public, you might want to remove the remote address :P

well, that's a thing over here and we're used to it as a changing IP is not unwelcome in most cases

@windwarrior that's probably a bad sign

dallas still working for me
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Jul 18 2017 17:27
nevermind, I am indeed very dumb
I had the IP in my postman, and felt the need to add /api/ because it was no longer in the adress
dallas is fine!

which IP responds tho @werdes
I think ARR might do IP-sticky round-robin, not sure
but only one of the four ARRs is actually not ded
anyway I found the issue I think
we have a reverse proxy between ARR and the API JsSrvs that does dynamic vhost registration
3/4 of those died with the hardware and we stood new ones up last night
but the JsSrv configs didn't get updated (I forgot about them when going over the details to stand up new proxies) so they didn't register their vhosts
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Jul 18 2017 17:32
how did those 3 die? :(
smiley
@codemasher
Jul 18 2017 17:32
by... death?
@Archomeda the network component of a blade chassis failed
and it was already running on the spare network component
so everything in the blade chassis basically fell off the grid

windwarrior
@windwarrior
Jul 18 2017 17:34
death by single point of failure
fairly common
I mean there was redundancy
smiley
@codemasher
Jul 18 2017 17:34
"was"
but our hardware is getting super old and we have pretty much constant failures
and a lot of the components aren't within warranty anymore
basically all the headaches of running a hosted solution business
windwarrior
@windwarrior
Jul 18 2017 17:35
well yeah, but the redudancy died when the first network component died :)
running a world class MMO is not easy I suppose

anyone wants to volunteer to run a couple world completes with taco logging their trail every 30 inches? :D

uhh, we created some sort of tracker ages ago
in case you need

well i just implemented a thing that logs the 3d position data every 30 inches into a file
if i can stay up i'll create a display for it today or over the week
will try to make it somewhat presentable
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Jul 18 2017 19:03
might want to add a keybind or something to pause logging :P
for hearts and stuff
smiley
@codemasher
Jul 18 2017 19:03
yea, that was funny back then - someone posted the idea to link mumble and the maps and Zeez came up with a running example and a friend of me and i extended that to live track anything
BoyC
@BoyC
Jul 18 2017 19:03
nah the logging is enabled by a command line for now, i don't really want everyone doing this

mind to render those routes to 2D paths? :D
BoyC
@BoyC
Jul 18 2017 21:27

if you mess up
