Guild/Friend Invites
by SilverShadow.4826 in API Development

Hi, I would like to request the possibility of sending guild or friend invites through the API. Thanks for your consideration.

That would be cool, but open the realm for soooo much spamming if unchecked

personally i don't see the urgency to have something like this
it's not like you invite hundreds of people every day

Well we will see what ANet will do... I am tense for the new changes when they got a team working on this... I also dont
See any urgent sense

API will stay readonly with a 99.9999% chance

if it's made two-way, it's like opening another can of worms
a big one too
the api has had corrupted, malformed or misplaced data on many occasions, can you imagine if that happens when writing back to your account data?

Yeah, like pandoras box... You cannot even imagine what will happen :/

yea, POST APIs are the root of all evil, that's why they don't exist.
oh, wait.

@Archomeda are u ok? i mean... c'mon.

what? :( i only mean that when the system isn't stable enough for one-way, it's likely to not go well the other way either; the reasons as to why it isn't stable are many, but i think that the root issue is that the gw2 infrastructure wasn't made to support an api at all
i don't imply that it's lye's fault, not at all
having some weird data output for readonly services is not fun, but acceptable as it doesn't corrupt any original data (i hope)

without any insight into the gw2 infrastructure it's not even an argument to make
at all
because... you don't know :P
all we know is that anet doesn't want us to authenticate via oauth and they likely don't want us to write data in any way
the "why" is only speculation

tbf, if the content designers are working on the api as well, or whatever the plans were, it might mean that the data we get from the api is less likely to be invalid/missing

"speculation"
just be patient and wait for hard facts
oh, wait. facts are out nowadays.
