I'm seriously considering moving all my stuff to https://www.hetzner.com/cloud :thought_balloon:
hetzner's normal dedicated offerings are really solid

Yeah I'm using one of theirs atm already
what advantage does the new cloud stuff have over the dedicated?
(I didn't actually look into the details too much)

One thing that is super cool (imo) is their backup system. You just click a button, pay 20% of your instance price per month (so 7€ for a 260gb instance) and then get up to 7 nightly backup snapshots

also it's super scalable

easy to set up and the service is superb
I mean, the dedicated stuff is pretty scalable too (you just can't scale down xD)

I just played a bit with a 20-node-cluster and it cost me 30 cents
heh

Trying to run our staging app for work on that now, will see how that goes. But so far I am super impressed. From "get server" to fully provisioned and running instance with ansible in <1m

(really, great service makes the deal for me - i've been on strato and 1&1 before and i can tell you things...)
ugh 1&1

I had 1&1 internet for a while, and it was horrible
their hosting services are pretty bad

1&1 used to be good
like 12 years ago
when I first used them
I remember it being godaweful back then

they've silently changed our company's hosting contract that included a ssl cert to one without cert and cashed ~800€/yr for a geotrust cert

@queicherius
Jan 25 2018 19:26 UTC
Damn, that's horrifying
that sounds like an EV cert though

tbh, i don't know what they did, but i noticed that one day i was looking through the conrol center
and i asked my boss if he'd ignored some emails and he said he couldn't remember any emails re that
and i asked him how he just silently paid their bills without notifying me... :D

so i just finished installing my first ever intel NUC
dang, these are awesome
people said they are loud, but i can't confirm. there's a fan in it but it's almost inaudible
also, a vesa mount included
it just takes a while to convince people that it is a real pc and that they don't need those huge boxes anymore

@lye have you looked at this? something more with the tp broke

yeah I have no idea what it is
every API response matches what the backend database is saying
and the backend database didn't change, so :shrug:

rip
someone forgot to feed that hamster with gems
Archomeda
@Archomeda
Jan 25 2018 22:28 UTC
is it directly asking the backend with the amount parameter?

from

{
  "coins_per_gem": 2739,
  "quantity": 365
}

to

{
  "coins_per_gem": 2695,
  "quantity": 371
}

this is the supposedly broken endpoint right? or is exchange/gems?
i always mix them up
@queicherius is the history graph at https://gw2efficiency.com/currencies/gems from gw2e itself or proxied from gw2spidy?
Archomeda

it's weird, because when i monitored it back then, it wasn't changing when the cache should've had expired, different quantities were still returning the same different results between them; and now they literally updated when i refreshed 6 minutes later

I was curious where the Graph data comes from to and looked for it. Seems to be gw2spidy, if i'm not mistaken: https://github.com/gw2efficiency/scraping/blob/7742383ab9a5a385c6bce124c05d080b1db9e7b0/src/gw2spidy/gemPriceHistory.js

Can i make that not embed somehow but only show a link when i Ctrl+V a Picture in here btw?

eh, edit that message afterwards i think
it's interesting to see how gw2spidy breaks on coins -> gems, but not the other way around
