EB has stopped updating for some reason, the BL are fine
and the dead keys, well, i don't know what you did, but compared to a few builds back, it's working currently

taco's keyboard handling works through a keyboard hook that either sends the keyboard event to taco and stops it from being sent to gw2 or sends it to both
i fixed a bug where on a keyup message taco would get the character again

it's the only way to get the keyboard to work on two apps at a time
well, more in regards to that bugfix
has nothing to do with how messages are transmitted to gw2 so it shouldn't have mattered

all it fixed was that i couldn't toggle a button in the marker editor through a keybind because the keypress arrived in taco twice and so instantly undid the toggling

@Silveress as some of you may know i was the guy who originally reverse engineered the gw1 data file format
i learned a lot about the architecture of such a setup from that
the way the file archive is a single file - we loved the idea of a portable client
we wanted to do a similar on the fly streaming system as well but dropped it later
ah, I didnt know
but most of all, we were in awe of the engineering behind it all, how it didn't have any unneeded bloat and seemed to just work
the gw1 client was a very robust piece of engineering that inspired us to do something similar in quality
hence we took security very seriously from the get go
having everything in one file is nice and neat, but wouldnt there be delays in pulling info from it (or is it a multithreaded read/write?)
our motto from the start was "never trust the client"
"The user always lies" is near universal
you only have a single hdd so it's up to the hardware to schedule the reads anyway, so it won't be any faster or slower i'd say, but we never gave thought to that

or, well, in a weird way i did but it was more about assets
well, i rebooted taco many times, tested it in wvw and mistlock... still works fine with dead keys

as for the asset security
I just like to let filesystems do what they are good at, storing files hiearchially. But maybe in this specific case having a single file is more performant
i was playing around extracting stuff from the datafile
and i did a gw.exe -image
and got a nice download
and it had all the half-finished data for nightfall
... 2-3 months before the release
and it was periodically updated
they obviously learned from that, otherwise that_shaman would have a field day :)
that_shaman is good enough for this community to only spoil minor stuff

One issue from megaservers is that they nearly destroyed Pikens Identity
as a rp server
sure, i've identified myself as a gandaran, but... meh, wvw needs this... badly
wasn't on piken before megaserver
so i missed that
i only know that gandara was a big wvw server before that as well, but it also had a large pve playerbase
just... not that skillful compared to desolation
RP... well, it was never that big to begin with in gw2
