Well, you know that WebRTC has raw dataChannels, right ? You wouldn't really need a virtual microphone for that.
(That said, I have in the past inserted data custom trames within a RTMP Stream so that a ppt presentation was shown in sync with the video)

the initial problem was that a secure webapp can't connect to the game's websocket because it's not secure

the browser needs a valid one
but you can get a valid one for localgw2api.com and add A entry to 127.0.0.1
problem with that is, you need to distribute the private key with the gw2 client

well in theory it is possible to distribute a keypair with the client (see a comment by @lye), but well, whats the point in SSL if your keys are publicly known (or well, can be extracted from the client anyway)

hence my idea was lvesgw2api.com abuses letsencrypt to get a key/cert for a subdomain, then after A that subdomain to localhost and hand the key/cert to the client
which... is not all that much better
