hi @mpolynskyi :smile: sometimes there are life forms in this room :sparkles:

hi @dacap
remember those posts we had about documentation and building aseprite. i think one point to make is regardless of experience, its a lot more work to get a dev environment set up... unlike just having to grab the allegro dependency from from a package manager as before, now there is skia. There are no pre-built packages for it, and at the moment its not possible to build it the way we want via pure cmake
heh
Azamat H. Hackimov
@winterheart
Hi @dacap Is there any plans to migrate from Allegro4 to Allegro5?
David Capello
@dacap
Hi @winterheart, there are no such plans, I've decided to avoid libraries that are oriented to game development
But as usual, I accept patches to improve that documentation (which sometimes I cannot do as good as other person that isn't involved in the project and compiles Aseprite for the very first time)
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
Love aseprite !
David Capello
@dacap
:smile:
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
:P
Hey Mr. Capello, you should do a aseprite steam key giveaway on Drunkdevs twitch channel, there are many aspiring game developers there and quite a lot ask about what program Mr. Jones "paints" in.. which is aseprite
David Capello
@dacap
Yeah, I'll should take a look there
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
Also the giveaways there act like a space ship wars between those that entered the giveaway and they pew pew each other (i bet all art is made in aseprite)
(i used aseprite compile on my Arch Linux but bought the steam version a while ago since i respect a lot your work and i like the program very very much)
It is really a shame not many people stream aseprite work on twitch, i have to hunt them down in the Creative section almost all day to find one
David Capello
@dacap
thanks for that! I'm glad to hear that people can contribute to Aseprite and use the source code too and move the program to other platforms
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
i'm not contributing, i don't know that level of programming but the AUR package of aseprite worked really well compiling on Arch Linux
David Capello
@dacap
yeah, I mean contributing buying Steam keys :smile_cat:
Glad to hear that it's working on Arch Linux
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
ah, yes, i got it on the previous sale, was like 10 or 15% off
David Capello
@dacap
I remember the Dropsy channel on twitch
Daniel Petre
@danielpetre
worked flawless on Arch Linux
David Capello
@dacap
:beers:
Zark the Caboose
@Zarkrosoft
Oh, yes. Aseprite.
One of the best tools I've ever used.
And also the most soul-crushing things I've ever needed to compile.
Looks like this chat hasn't been used in a while.
I wonder why's that?
David Capello
@dacap
Hi Zark!
I'm not used to login to the chat, but I'd like to starting using it a little more (anyway there is no too much traffic here)
Michael Lohr
@michidk
Hey, wasn't there a way to reload a theme (or at least the colors) without restarting? Like a hotkey? @dacap
ah got it
Aaron
@apalm1341
Hey all
anyone here?
David Capello
@dacap
hi there, sometimes I enter to the chat, but I forgot to enter in a daily basis :cry:
Aaron
@apalm1341
hey
u still there?
Rok Fajfar
@rokf
@apalm1341 Come on :smile:. Just ask a question if you have one.
You won't come far just asking if anyone is here.
David Capello
@dacap
Hi @apalm1341, as @rokf said, it's better if you ask a question :smile_cat: then I can answer any other time.
Daan van Yperen
@DaanVanYperen
Heya guys! Is there any documentation available on the spritesheet json format?
Luca Marcelli
@ioncodes
@dacap Just wanted to say thanks for this awsome tool! :D
@dacap Btw, there is a bug if Anaconda is installed it wont build, because cmake/ninja will load the freetype2 files from the anaconda installation
