I have a unicode-related error ... anyone here that can help with this?
https://github.com/astropy/astroquery/pull/320#issuecomment-42103008

@astrofrog

@cdeil - is that with a really recent master? I think @embray may have fixed that yesterday?
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:40
I see that error with master from today, but it doesn't show up on travis-ci.
@astrofrog Maybe you can try and reproduce with Python 3.3 on Mac?
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:40
I did see that on Jenkins yesterday I think, let me check
Of course now we can't publish Jenkins reports anymore :(
Christoph Deil
@cdeil

What's the problem?
If you need a server you can use ci.scipy.org
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:42
ci.scipy.org seems to be down?
is it a Jenkins server?
Shining Panda shut down the service this week
so can't publish my Mac Jenkins results there anymore
Adam Ginsburg
@keflavich
May 03 2014 12:42
oh no! that's no good
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:43
yeah...
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:43
It's a hosted Mac Mini ... we would have to set up a Jenkins there
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:43
but ci.scipy.org doesn't currently work
it'd be cool if we could set up Jenkins there though!
just for publishing results
it wouldn't have to run tests itself
Christoph Deil
@cdeil

The machine is at d3-4.macminivault.com ... if we set up Jenkins there the dashboard will also be visible at ci.scipy.org
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:46
@cdeil - ah I see, so ci.scipy.org doesn't currently exist
but we would set it up?
I'm getting a 404 on https://ci.scipy.org at the moment
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:47
I can ssh into ci.scipy.org ... it forwards to d3-4.macminivault.com
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:47
ah right, so at the moment it's not used for HTTP
just as an SSH machine
it'd be great if we could use it as a Jenkins-publishing machine
I think it would be low load
since it would only collect test results, not run tests
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:49
No ... if we run Jenkins it will appear on ci.scipy.org at Port 8080 ... or if we can figure out how to configure Jenkins for Port 80 that should work too.
The machine is idle, so you could run the tests there.
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:50
we could start off with publishing, then we could always switch to full testing if we like
port 8080 would be fine
no need for port 80
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:51
can we chat in person ... we can discuss who runs it as which user and I can give you the password
Adam Ginsburg
@keflavich
May 03 2014 12:52
are you both in Heidelberg?
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:52
Yes, but at different institutes ... I meant chat on Skype or Google Hangout.
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 12:55
yes, we can chat - even this afternoon if you like, but not immediately
would 4pm work? (if today)
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 12:55
yes ... 4pm works for me.
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog

need to update my 'number of issues vs time' graph for astropy, there's so much to keep track of!
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 13:47
@keflavich - I merged in the config (APE3) changes into astropy master. Just thought I'd let you know in case you want to test that the config items for astroquery are still working (I think the changes should be backward-compatible for 0.4, and will break for 1.0)
Adam Ginsburg
@keflavich
May 03 2014 13:55
@astrofrog - thanks, I'll keep an eye out for anything that affects astroquery
...I may not stay in this room forever; I failed to connect via adium and I don't like having an extra browser window open
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 13:58
ditto
what's the problem with connecting via adium?
did you generate a password?
Adam Ginsburg
@keflavich
May 03 2014 13:59
yeah, and it is just sitting there not connecting... probably something I did wrong
but, not figuring it out now
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 13:59
you need to make a password and also select ssl
otherwise it doesn't connect
Adam Ginsburg
@keflavich
May 03 2014 13:59
oh, hmm, just put my password in the wrong field. Easy enough.
am I here?
yes!
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 14:03
can you see this?
that was the issue I was having, that I didn't see messages sent by other people
does it work for you?
@cdeil - I'm free now if you want to chat
on hangout
let me know if you are still available
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 14:06

yeah
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
May 03 2014 16:18
I am getting so many GH notifications from astropy due to the feature freeze one presumes
Michael Mueller
@mdmueller
May 03 2014 16:23
Wasn't the feature freeze yesterday?
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
May 03 2014 16:26
yeah I think so
I had ~50 astropy notifications over night
Michael Mueller
@mdmueller
May 03 2014 16:26
Oh yeah
I don't have notifications enabled for every issue, but I noticed a lot of stuff with NDData
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
May 03 2014 19:10
Yes, I need to catch up with the NDData issues
busy times

@cdeil - how many cores are in the mac mini?
Christoph Deil
@cdeil
May 03 2014 22:39
4 cores ... should be able to handle Astropy and affiliated package builds without problem.
But the bandwidth per day is limited, so dependencies should be pre-installed or a copy of the wheelhouse should be there.
