Pritish is in an exam today I think
I am about to murder setuptools/pypi/travis
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:50
that's quite a broad set of victims
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:51
all I want to do is release 0.4.1 why you be such a douche!
I have beaten Travis now
for some reason I can't upload to pypi
and when I get someone else to do it we get a stupid error when you do pip install sunpy
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:52
can you upload it by hand?
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:52
nope that gives me a 502
also I am in a particularly ranty mood as I just found a missing bracket in my science code that has cost me about 3 days
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:53
502? huh
proxy issues?
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:53
yeah
I know
afaik I am not behind a proxy
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:53

I'm really thankful for the efforts of others who worry about packaging and distribution. ughhh.
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:54
normally python setup.py sdist register upload should be easy
not sure why you're getting 502s...
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:56
yes i am logged in , the file is 15Mb and I have no damn idea
@taldcroft I hate it
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:56
well, on the plus side you actually have a release to upload
;)
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:56

@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 14:56

Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 14:56
it's only a tiny bug fix
it was supposed to be quick, I spent ALL DAY yesterday doing it
my supervisor will kill me
@astrofrog 1 week delays are not the end of the world
@astrofrog if you have 5 can you spin up a virtualenv and try to pip install sunpy
?
pwease?
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 15:04
maybe don't worry
I think I have an idea
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog

@astrofrog astropy_helpers question:
in the package template you have __import__(packagename) which means you have to have the package deps installed to install the package?
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:11
where is that line?
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:11
pip install sunpy is now trying to install scipy and pandas from scratch
think Iwill use site-packages...
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 15:11
it will do that
I have some wheels in my home dir for spinning up virtualenvs
oh @astrofrog it's python 2 only :)
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:12
it's ok, I'm just going to use --system-site-packages
WHAT?
;)

Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 15:13

Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:13
GSoC project?
(2015)
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 15:13
it was nearly a SOCIS project
but we plumped for something else in the end
Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:14

Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
Jun 04 2014 15:14

Thomas Robitaille
@astrofrog
Jun 04 2014 15:15
ok, from pip I get:
$ tmp/s2/bin/python
Python 2.7.6 (default, Nov 12 2013, 13:26:39)
[GCC 4.2.1 Compatible Apple Clang 4.1 ((tags/Apple/clang-421.11.66))] on darwin

@taldcroft - do you think it would be feasible to finish up astropy/astropy#2511 today or tomorrow? (just to try and get all 0.4 issues done by the end of the week)
also, any idea what's up with astropy/astropy#2281
Stuart Mumford
@Cadair
