Richard Pöttler
@poettler-ric
for a very long time - havent measured it, but it is easy >1 minute for just one package (linter-golint)
ok, no idea, where the cpu consumption comes from - might be just ordinary atom..
Florian Wendelborn
@dodekeract
@poettler-ric The plugin may have binary dependencies, which need to get compiled first.
Tim
@timfallmk
@dodekeract @poettler-ric the resource limits on install, dependency checking, and compiles for plugins were relaxed recently if I'm not mistaken. Quicker load times, but more resource usage during startup.

Hello everyone,
could anyone please show me how to sync the files inside packages folder?
I have the .cson file in my packages which has not been synchronized.
Florian Wendelborn
@dodekeract
Only thing I can think of is to add a symbolic link, no idea where the other end should be though.
minhducpsc
@minhducpsc
did you mean at the symbolic link to .atom folder?
Florian Wendelborn
@dodekeract
If there is any folder that definitely gets synced, you can link the file you want to have synced into that folder. I have never used this package for something like this, but it's the only thing I can think of.
minhducpsc
@minhducpsc
ok great. Thank you. This syncs my packages but not the setting of my packages though.

@RedNifre
Hi. I just installed atom on a mac and want to set up sync-settings. However, the "Settings" button is missing, I only see "Uninstall" and "Disable". Where do I enter my Personal Access Token then?
Hm, guess I'll edit the cson then...
Florian Wendelborn
@dodekeract
@RedNifre it should be there. You may want to try to reinstall or restart your atom. I'm on macOS Sierra and it works perfectly.
Marc Droz
@b1tc0de
hi! question i created the token and the gist-package.json, but i am not sure what goes inside the gist package.json? it does not say on the installation instructions
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@b1tc0de You just create the Gist to be used for storing the configuration in there. You can leave the file empty. It will be overwritten when you backup the first time.
Marc Droz
@b1tc0de
@dirk-thomas
"sync-settings"
gistId:
personalAccessToken:
do i leave it like this or what do i write,
cause i know it will not let me create an empty file
Marc Droz
@b1tc0de
anyone?
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@b1tc0de You need to put some content into the gist in order to create it (see updated README). In step 2 it is mentioned how to create the personal access token. Both fields have to be filled in in order to use sync-settings.
Marcus Spittler
@mspittler
Hello! Is it possible to just exclude one certain package from being synced by sync-settings?
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@mspittler No, that is currently not possible.
You can blacklist specific keys in your config
So one option might be disable that one package on one system and blacklist the key which contains the list of disabled packages
Aziz Uysal
@azizuysal
Hi , is it possible to sync only community packages?
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
No, not at the moment, see atom-community/sync-settings#37
Aziz Uysal
@azizuysal
Thanks
Roman Cervantes
@romancm
Hi
Anyone around?
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@romancm hi
Roman Cervantes
@romancm
I'm building a website around atom's sync settings package, where users can share their settings with other developers, I'm looking for devs that would like to check it out and provide feedback
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@romancm That looks like an interesting project. I am happy to take a look but my time is rather limited so don't expect too much feedback and maybe "late" :wink:
Roman Cervantes
@romancm
yeah no worries, the site is http://www.atomsettings.com/ if any of you wants to check it out, it's still a WIP, so expect it to be a little rough around the edges. Any feedback is appreciated
Kietil
@Kietil
Hi. I like this package a lot. Is there a way to backup the .bash_profile with this too (even if it is located somewhere else on the computer) ? Can't find any other packages that can backup that file either..
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
@Kietil No, the scope of the Atom package sync-settings is only about configuration settings and files within Atom. You might want to look for alternatives which are even unrelated to Atom.

@in-in
I added token and id to my .zshrc
export GITHUB_TOKEN=6a10cc207b....7a67e871
export GIST_ID=b3025...88c41c
Is there a way to place GITHUB_TOKEN and GIST_ID to .atom/config.json?
125b8.png
something like that
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
both environment variables are being used when you don't specify them in the package settings
in-in
@in-in

Yes it works
But when Atom starts for the first time, it shows the error: «sync-settings: Mandatory settings missing: Gist ID, GitHub personal access token» and I thought that it does not work

In realty sync-settings:backup is happen
Can I get rid of the error "Mandatory settings missing..."?

0018a.png
Dirk Thomas
@dirk-thomas
No, not at the moment. This check doesn't take the environment variables into account.
Can you fill an issue for this?
