Hello
Just a quick question, does it also sync packages or just their configuration and I would have to install them manually first?

It is supposed to also install packages, but it does not do it instantly - IIRC there was even an issue about that.

well I was worried about config for packages, I had to basically copy my .atom dir so my project management packages could have the groups of projects I already setup

It should install all back-upped packages and all settings from your main namespace config.cson file.
  • If you have both settings enabled in sync-settings package

if it's in config.cson file, sync-settings will backup

Because I copied the whole dir and pasted it and it works for linux and windows
just need to change them so I use two separate gist one per OS

but if it's in a seperate file, it won't by default. but you can define custom files in settings dho

the package gets installed, but the data seems to be lost
or just takes way longer to get synced

backup is almost instand, restore could take some time with a lot of packages
Looking at that package, it creates another file where it stores those projects: https://github.com/jccguimaraes/atom-project-viewer#file-configuration
As said earlier, you can define custom files to backup too within sync-settings package settings.
