so while DI does have its use, I think scanning the classpath makes the project much more pluggable and modular
that said, it should be possible to implement your own registry for which you could use DI or w/e

yes spring boot does class scanning but not only, you can implement and configure your stuffs i.e. in an xml file so scanning class may not be enough

tbh I haven't seen much xml config done in spring boot projects, generally there is a bean you need to override which has a protected method called customize / postX
anyway, let me know if you have any luck with the classpath scanning lib update, otherwise there's the registry interface you could implement, might be a bit of a pain to manage all the internal types

well, with spring boot you can inject an instance of your bean too, spring is a huge beast and has quite a few way to configure things :)
