Oh I see. The AWS_CONFIG_FILE/AWS_SHARED_CREDENTIALS_FILE env var is documented (I wrote the docs/code for it😇) but I don't see people overriding it that often so it may not be the best idea if you don't need to change the location.

Just installed aws-cli on WSL ubuntu using these commands
curl "https://awscli.amazonaws.com/awscli-exe-linux-x86_64.zip" -o "awscliv2.zip"
unzip awscliv2.zip
sudo ./aws/install

ran "aws --version" and response is => bash: /home/qbrt/.local/bin/aws: No such file or directory

any suggestions? is it a pathing issue?

I started a new ubuntu session and "aws" is working.. it was a pathing issue, just had to restart session to pick up the changes.

Hi there.

AWS CLI team is re-imagining the AWS CLI auto-prompt mode for v2, and we’d like to get some feedback from you on this mode before it is released. More details on how to try it out and leave feedback in this GitHub issue

hi everyone, I'd like to ask if anyone here can help me solve my problem. I want to create AWS canary using CLI, in docs I found that I can pass my code as zip file using --code parameter, but not sure how to do it properly
I tried --code ZipFile=fileb://myfile.zip but this gives me 'Invalid base64: "fileb://myfile.zip" and didn't find anything related on google

Hi, if you try to create lambda function from zip archive you can use cli --zip-file custtom argument like this

Hello All,
I’m having problem with AWS Canary when I want to ‘import’ other files into my canary test

in my canary test I have

const synthetics = require('Synthetics');
const log = require('SyntheticsLogger');

const loginPage = require('./utils/login-page’);

const loginUser = async function () {
  // …
  loginPage.login();
  // ...
}

exports.handler = async () => {
  return await loginUser();
}

and in login-page.js

const login = async () => {
   // code
}

exports.login = login;
my zip file looks like this
test.zip
    /nodejs
        /node_modules
            /utils
                login-page.js
            login.js
with this configuration when I create canary and run it I’m getting error No test result returned.Error: Protocol error (Runtime.callFunctionOn): Target closed.
if I’ll remove const loginPage = require('./utils/login-page’); and utils from zip file, having just /nodejs/node_modules/login.js than it works

Hello, I have a small question around EFS and my configuration of it on Cloudformation that looks wrong to me (but works properly, I just don't understand how).

I have a few lambda functions accessing the EFS. They only need to access a directory in the EFS, create a folder in it, do a git checkout of a git repository in that folder, perform some actions in it, then delete the whole thing.

My setup looks a bit like this:

  GitCheckoutEFSAccessPoint:
    Type: 'AWS::EFS::AccessPoint'
    Properties:
      AccessPointTags:
        - Key: Name
          Value: GitCheckoutEFSAccessPoint
      FileSystemId: !Ref GitCheckoutEFS
      PosixUser:
        Uid: "1000"
        Gid: "1000"
      RootDirectory:
        CreationInfo:
          OwnerGid: "1000"
          OwnerUid: "1000"
          Permissions: "000"
        Path: "/repos"

  RepoCheckoutFunction:
    Type: AWS::Serverless::Function
    Properties:
      ...
      Runtime: java11
      Layers:
        - arn:aws:lambda:eu-west-2:553035198032:layer:git-lambda2:8 # Layer to provide Git operations.
      MemorySize: 640
      FileSystemConfigs:
        - Arn: !GetAtt GitCheckoutEFSAccessPoint.Arn # Connect the lambda function to an EFS access point.
          LocalMountPath: /mnt/repos

I am omitting part of the config, but happy to share more if you think it's needed.
My question is? How does this work? I am using permissions 000 and if my understanding is correct, the lambda function shouldn't even be able to mount the EFS according to the docs here

P.S. if this isn't the right forum for this question then I would be eternally grateful if you could guide me towards the right place to post my question! :)

Brian Rogers
@brogers-propstream

Hi folks. I just opened aws/aws-cli#6345

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Essentially the install script is broken entirely for me. I cannot locate any other information as to how I can work around this short of performing a sed to remove the last Shift statement after ESAC. Which isn't exactly a good method.
For use in the EC2 Image builder, this is very difficult to work around.
Brian Rogers
@brogers-propstream
Yeah, given the history of this channel it appears that AWS is not here at all and if they are they've been neglecting this channel for a looooong time.
Brian Rogers
@brogers-propstream
Posted in the forum if anyone else drops by with the same issue - https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?threadID=344876
Brian Rogers
@brogers-propstream
Found a workaround and posted it to the Github issue I created.

It's a workaround that creates a custom component, the AWS CLI install script is still broken, especially when using the default, Amazon owned, EC2 Image Builder component.

AWS will need to fix the TOE before anyone will be able to use the default AWS CLI component.
