What errors are you getting
@drexler Thanks!
Mia @brujah! Tell us what you're doing and share the command you're running.

I'm facing issues while configuring the AWS CLI through Squid proxy connection.

endpoint url is reachable via curl -v
whereas when tried through "aws s3 ls " I'm getting error as "Failed to connect proxy url: proxyurl.com"

I'm trying to connect to s3 bucket...
while researching this via debug option, I can see there is issue post 2019-04-01 "01:17:16,132 - MainThread - botocore.endpoint - DEBUG - Sending http request:"

not getting response header:

Hello everyone!
I have a question about configuration file. Did some google search and didn't found anything related. So, I'm trying to automatize invalidation and want to use configuration file instead using Cloudfront distribution ID on command line or inside script. As far as I know aws-cli don't have configuration variable related to cloudfront distribution id. IF yes, I'll be happy to see. Thank you!

Hello. I opened a PR a little over a week ago (aws/aws-cli#4036) and haven't seen any activity on it. Not trying to rush anyone or anything, just wondering if there's anything else I need to do to get it reviewed.

is there a way to sort (DESC) and limit the number of objects returned by aws s3 ls command?
andrew quartey
@ubuntux if you can pipe the data into a utility with a regex that strips out the object creation date leaving only the name you can then pipe the result into the sort utility to handle it for you. so something like: aws s3 ls | rm-object-creation-date | sort -h
is there a way to build docker images ON amazon, not as part of a CI/CD pipeline, and publish to amazon ECR?

Hello Everyone,
What is the fastest way to copy a folder(size: 1011 TB) from one bucket to another?
I tried acceleration mechanism on destination bucket and using aws cp command to copying the data (speed at which copy is in progress is ~100 MBps) and looks like it will take another 2-3 days to copy the data.
is there a way to push directly from dockerhub to ECR without pulling locally first?
Aaron Tokhy
Hello, I opened a PR some time back: (aws/aws-cli#4092). It'd be great if someone can take a look at it
Joost Naaijen
Not sure if this is the right place, but I can't find away to set custom oauth scopes via aws-cli. The docs only mention the default ones. Where can I find if this is possible?

Hey, is there a difference between awscli and awsobile? they seem to ahve the same funcitonallities.

Hello Everyone,
I have a question with regards to awscli installation on centos7 box.

I did installed using pip as a root user and the command i used is --> pip3 install awscli. it installed in /usr/bin but with 600 permissions

so i did manually changed the permissions to 755 to make this available for all the users in the box
it did worked as a root user but when i go to different user am getting module error
aws --version
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/aws", line 19, in <module>
    import awscli.clidriver
ImportError: No module named 'awscli.clidriver'
can someone help me in fixing this issue please ?
andrew quartey
@gt-28 try uninstalling it and reinstalling with sudo
yeah i did that
i just now figured out, its with umask value
i did changed the umask value to 0022 and then re-installed and it did worked well
thank you @drexler

I'm trying to run the aws rds add-role-to-db-cluster

Here is what I get when I run the command:

$ aws rds add-role-to-db-cluster --db-cluster-identifier arn:aws:rds:us-east-1:<account>:cluster:<arn> --role-arn arn:aws:iam::<account>:role/<arn>

An error occurred (InvalidParameterValue) when calling the AddRoleToDBCluster operation: The feature-name parameter must be provided with the current operation for the Aurora (PostgreSQL) engine.

When I add the --feature-name to it, I get the following:

$ aws rds add-role-to-db-cluster --db-cluster-identifier arn:aws:rds:us-east-1:<account>:cluster:<arn> --role-arn arn:aws:iam::<account>:role/<arn> --feature-name s3Import

An error occurred (InvalidParameterValue) when calling the AddRoleToDBCluster operation: The feature name s3Import is not valid for the Aurora PostgreSQL engine.
$ aws --version
aws-cli/1.16.192 Python/3.7.2 Darwin/18.5.0 botocore/1.12.182
I'd add this through the AWS Console, but the "Manage IAM Roles" for my RDS cluster doesn't appear where the documentation says it is
Levi Wilson
Actually, I think I might know the problem. I'm using Aurora which only goes up to version 10 of PostgresSQL but the s3 import apparently requires version 11

Hey guys, does the AWS CLI report 503 errors (in particular, for aws s3 cp) , or does it automatically retry?
hello, wondering how to filter tags in servicecatalog's search-provisioned-products? Thx
Good afternoon, I am trying to install AWS CLI on a Windows XP3 machine that is locked down and behind multiple levels of access controls. When we use the MSI, I think it is installing a version of the Python Runtime that isn't supported on XP3. I tried downloading different version and running python setup.py, but it looks like it wants to download files to install from the Internet, which it cannot do due to security controls. It's only allowed to talk to AWS S3 Servers. What are my options to get this installed?
Sorry, XP SP3 :)
hi, does anyone know if it is possible to create a batch compute environment via the cli with a VPC configured? That setting is not mentioned in the documentation. Looks like everything else in the documentation matches up with what you can set in the web console but that particular setting is missing and unfortunately it is something I need to configure.
Jon Little
is there a way to describe assets then count them with another command or would you need to use python for that?
Hi All,
I am trying to add application specific stickyness session to Application load balancer but ALB only support lb_cookies as stickeness type is there way to achieve this . we are using path based routing to to different target group running as ecs container . AWSELB change every time if we hit to each application
Callum Denby
Hey guys, pretty big issue I've encountered just now, any command I execute with aws-cli throws the same error, even aws configure
$ aws configure

Credential named assume-role-with-web-identity not found.
I can't find any mention of that online and not sure why it's suddenly started happening
$ aws --version
aws-cli/1.16.230 Python/3.7.4 Linux/5.2.11-arch1-1-ARCH botocore/1.12.180
Marius Morar
Any idea why I'm receiving this warning when trying to create an instance
Randall Kahler
you're probably missing the ec2:DescribeInstanceStatus permission on your role
@CallumDenby maybe double check your ~/.aws/config file to make sure there's not something wrong with the default profile, or just move that out of the way to troubleshoot. It's possible the default profile you have set references a role that no longer exists in the target account
Marius Morar
@angrychimp it's strange because I have a script that generate multiple instances and let's say from 20 instances created 4 or 5 of them have that warning
