Hello!
James Kenaley
@UnbrandedTech
how do you do highlighting in cloudsearch
Jonathan Eskew
@jeskew
Hey @UnbrandedTech — highlighting requires a json field to be passed in
You can find documentation on the parameters to pass into the search method at http://docs.aws.amazon.com/aws-sdk-php/v3/api/api-cloudsearchdomain-2013-01-01.html#search
James Kenaley
@UnbrandedTech
Thank you. I think i'm going to write up a blog post giving some tutorials, because you can bang you head for a while not knowing what to do at first.
Jonathan Eskew
@jeskew
Good idea. CloudSearch/Lucene syntax is a bit different from other AWS services and can be a bit confusing.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.

anyone running into issues with the amazon AWS AMI and php 5.6 and packages? for instance there is no php56-pecl-yaml, no php56-pecl to install yaml, and the normal packages is php 5.4 so i get library conflicts
kevin olson
@acidjazz
nevermind, php-pear is compatible with the php56 packages, I was able to compile the yaml module with pecl

ooOOo - Installing aws/aws-sdk-php (3.0.5)
Ahmed Alarifi
@ahmd8
does this supports "amazon product advertising api"?
Steven Bullen
@StevenBullen
Hi I have upgraded to v3 and have noticed that PostObject no longer attaches the policy like it did previously. Do you have an example of the best approach in v3? Thanks
Jonathan Eskew
@jeskew
@ahmd8 I’m afraid not; this project provides a client for Amazon Web Services APIs, not for Amazon.com
@StevenBullen Are you passing the policy into the constructor?
Steven Bullen
@StevenBullen
@jeskew In version 2 the policy was produced for you. Is this not possible now? Does the SK have a helper for producing the policy.

@jeskew
@StevenBullen could you open up an issue on github about this?
kevin olson
@acidjazz
speaking of github issues, these are killing me: https://github.com/impressivewebs/HTML9-Responsive-Boilerstrap-js/issues

when you update a cloudsearch document do you need to provide the whole document or just the index’s your updating?"fields" => [
"tagname" => $tag,
"lasttimevisit" => $AWSTime_String,
]
VS
                "fields" => [
                    "url" => $url,
                    "comment" => "",
                    "tagname" => $tagID,
                    "id" => $historyID,
                    "textcontent" => $textContent,
                    "usertitle" => $title,
                    "hashurl" => $hashURL,
                    "lasttimevisit" => $AWSTime_String,
                    "userid" => $userID
                ]
Bardia Afshin
@BardiaAfshin
Anyone here experience with using AWS KPL ?
Jonathan Eskew
@jeskew
KPL currently just targets Java, unfortunately
Bardia Afshin
@BardiaAfshin
@jeremeamia I was looking into what it takes to build out a interface from php to java
do you have any experience with this?
Jeremy Lindblom
@jeremeamia
Unfortunately, I do not. Let me know if you come up wit anything. We will make note that you are looking for the Kinesis functionality in PHP though.
Bardia Afshin
@BardiaAfshin
So, right now with aws-sdk-php you can push and get record(s)
My understanding of KPL/KCL is that it introduced robustness that isn’t there otherwise from the producer and consumer stand point.
Jonathan Eskew
@jeskew
KCL and KPL are meant to intermediate between your application and Kinesis so that your application doesn’t incur the overhead of communicating over HTTPS
They aren’t necessarily any more robust
Tiago Fedatto
@tiagofedatto
in version3 does not support the simpledb?
Jeremy Lindblom
@jeremeamia
Version 3 only supports services that use the latest Signature Version 4 authentication protocol. For this reason, we removed SimpleDB support.
But... I am keeping a tally of people that ask for it
Tiago Fedatto
@tiagofedatto
Thanks...
James Kenaley
@UnbrandedTech
can you limit the text that gets returned from the highlight function in cloud search?
Jeremy Lindblom
@jeremeamia
Not as far as I can tell, but it might be better to ask a question like this on the CloudSearch forum.
Bardia Afshin
@BardiaAfshin
the database developers guide is marked 2012
i’m trying to copy a file from s3 to aws redshift
anybody has had fun times with this already? and knows the CLI for achieving this?
ok , scratch this
you need to run the copy command from sql workbench
Jeremy Lindblom
@jeremeamia
Yeah, running COPY is the way to go, as far as I know.
Bardia Afshin
@BardiaAfshin
thanks
one thing I like about google big query
is that you can step through a wizard
and creates the table for you, based on the csv you are importing
and it is redicoulously fast.
