Hi. From where can we download the murder mystery we did in the labs? Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm traveling around Europe for Spring Break and haven't been able to access the unix server (I've been using the class server). I was able to in Bangor, but haven't had any luck since I left. Any suggestions on what I can do? I only have my iPad with me (which has a putty-like app)

Are you getting an error?
I'll check if it's online.

Might be to do with the network you are on not allowing SSH traffic?

@hadleyb I've just pm'd you the new password.

It still stalls on connection, so maybe it's not allowing that.. Also, just to confirm, the IP is 178.62.79.13?
Noah

178.62.79.13
Yeah, I'm not seeing you hit the server
So it's being blocked in your network
Or the app you're using doesn't work, I suppos

I was able to connect when I was on Bangor's network with the app, so I think that chunk is probably fine
I'll try connecting with a friend's mobile hotspot tomorrow, but we're actually just about to catch a bus from London to Paris.

Try on a different network if you can. if that fails, try connecting to Bangor via DesktopAnywhere and then sshing in from there.

How would I use DesktopAnywhere? Is that an app/how would I connect to Bangor?
It allows you to access the University network from outside and use some internal applications.

Thank you for the link and explanation, but when I run it in a browser window, it connects, but fails to start a client

On your iPad?

Yes, running on my iPad in a Chrome browser.
Strike that, it's safari. That might be my problem

You did click the HTML5 link rather than Java?
hadleyb
@hadleyb
Mar 26 2015 19:36
I attempted both links, but I'll try the one you just sent
It briefly said "Server connection failed" before telling me that I've succesfully been logged out

I expect that means your firewall is blocking that too
Try by tethering tomorrowing, otherwise every other step I can recommend is probably too complicated to be worth the effort

Okay. I'll try it again when I can access a different network (probably tomorrow night). If this continues to be a problem, is there any way that I could have an extension?

I need take off for tonight, but thank you so much for your help. If you can email me at my eeu4db account with any additional info, that would help me out a lot. Thank you again; I hope you're having a good break!
