    Hey, When I try to dynamically insert the text into the readme file, it doesnt let it. The line of my script is echo readmeexample.txt |(cd $para)README.txt where $para is the parameter received from a user. How would you recommend I change it?

    @danprince
    Ok, so if you use the pipe operator, whatever is on the right side of the pipe needs to be a command
    So, if you wanted to insert the tech readmeexample.txt into the readme file for a given project you would probably want to use the redirect operator instead
    Which expects a filename on the right hand side
    echo readmeexample.txt > $para/README.txt

    Hello, in extension 2, which script are we linking to /bin, I've got it working on a random script but is there a specific one it should be used on? Also in your example you have created a "backup" script depending on the user input, should ours also be a backup script with a different name or another script entirely?
    Dan Prince
    @danprince
    Hi, for extension 2, you should link the script that creates the project structure. So that you can call it from anywhere on your computer.
    The backup project is just an example of how you could use the tool. In that example it creates a project structure for a projected called 'backup'. In actuality it could be anything.

    ohh, that makes sense. I think that's what i did already, I just linked my main script to bin. Thanks for the help

    Hey guys, I'm traveling around Europe for Spring Break and haven't been able to access the unix server (I've been using the class server). I was able to in Bangor, but haven't had any luck since I left. Any suggestions on what I can do? I only have my iPad with me (which has a putty-like app)

    @eeue56
    Are you getting an error?
    I'll check if it's online.
    hadleyb
    @hadleyb
    It just refuses to connect
    Noah
    @eeue56
    Account name?

    Online for me, I'll reset your password

    @hadleyb
    Thank you
    Dan Prince
    @danprince
    Might be to do with the network you are on not allowing SSH traffic?
    Noah
    @eeue56
    @hadleyb I've just pm'd you the new password.
    hadleyb
    @hadleyb
    It still stalls on connection, so maybe it's not allowing that.. Also, just to confirm, the IP is 178.62.79.13?
    Noah
    @eeue56
    178.62.79.13
    Yeah, I'm not seeing you hit the server
    So it's being blocked in your network
    Or the app you're using doesn't work, I suppos
    hadleyb
    @hadleyb
    I was able to connect when I was on Bangor's network with the app, so I think that chunk is probably fine
    I'll try connecting with a friend's mobile hotspot tomorrow, but we're actually just about to catch a bus from London to Paris.
    Noah
    @eeue56
    Try on a different network if you can. if that fails, try connecting to Bangor via DesktopAnywhere and then sshing in from there.
    hadleyb
    @hadleyb
    How would I use DesktopAnywhere? Is that an app/how would I connect to Bangor?
    It allows you to access the University network from outside and use some internal applications.
