Adam Ralph
@adamralph
so you're quite into gulp then? using it for building .net projects?
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
yeah
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
I've spent most of today thinking about gulp and whether it's approach is a fit for bau
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
I love these automation tools
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
I tried writing a gulp file to build bau and this is the best I could come up with https://github.com/bau-build/bau/blob/dev/comparison/gulpfile.js
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
at first glance that looks fair
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
I tried using the gulp-msbuild plugin but things just didn't work out for me
but I get easily confused with JS :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
no :P
you are just being modest
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
if you have the time once, I'd love to pick your brain on gulp and the whole streaming thing. but not now, I have to go to bed ;-)
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
me too :D
I'll try wrap up this test soon
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
awesome, thanks v much
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
I am still wrapping my head around this
I'm getting all confused :P
but then again, I get confused very easily
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
hah, now you're being modest :-)
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
:D
sleep well @adamralph
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
thanks, you too!
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
you still around?
submitted the pull request
I could possibly change the names a bit, I think.
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
but let me know what you think
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
Hey @adamralph
thanks for your comments
much appreciated
Pieter Germishuys
@pgermishuys
I can't believe I submitted that as a pull request
sorry @adamralph
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
hey don't sweat it! a pull request can be all sorts of things. a WIP, suggestion, a spike, a discussion point. it doesn't have to a beautifully polished end product
I wish they would be renamed in fact. 'pull request' is too narrow for what they are useful for
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
but in any case, the PR is not bad at all. it all works
in my experience most PR's need a little work before they're ready. it's part of the regular workflow
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
and in this case it's just naming and moving a couple of things around. functionally it's all fine
Brendan Thompson
@BrendanThompson
@adamralph hey mate
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
hi!
Brendan Thompson
@BrendanThompson
hows it going mate?
holy crud gitter seems awesome
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
yeah, it's a good site
Aaron Dandy
@aarondandy
I'm thinking that CSI (C# interactive) may have a wider distribution than scriptcs (just my prediction) so would there be any value in exploring getting bau to work with that?
Adam Ralph
@adamralph
it's a possibility. It would probably need a little more bootstrapping code since we don't get script packs there
pulling out a core, with a scriptcs wrapper is something I've considered
but if scripted packages ever become first class, one of the things I might want to do is to convert Bau to being pure script
and I'm not sure how well that would be supported by csi
Blair Conrad
@blairconrad
What's all this about CSI? Not only have I never heard of, I'm unable to find info that's not all about the TV show…
Aaron Dandy
@aarondandy
Same for me :)
It should make an official appearance with the next VS 2015 update I think
I know there was some kind of quiet conversation between scriptcs people and VS people, not sure if it is related or not
tin foil hat stuff....
