What would be the shell command to parse a JSON.
jq?
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
you can use jq if you are executing shell commands
yeah
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
great
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
Once I get more familiar with it I would love to contribute more. Truffle seems to be very solidity-centric so maybe when viper gets integrated it will be modular enough to easily include bamboo as well.
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
At least the vault example should be fixed on master now.
bamboo --abi | jq tests are being added: pirapira/bamboo#246
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
thanks just pulled it and its working
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
great
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
this was the result of me playnig around with ganache, web3js and bamboo the other day https://github.com/timgestson/bamboo-tests. When I get some time, I will create github issues for some things i found running simple tests and add to the README

@pirapira Looking to get involved, where should I start? What needs to be done?
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
looking forward to @pirapira 's answer on this, but after evaluating the project for a few days, it seems like the a language specification is the next step and a comprehensive test suite that covers all of that spec.
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@timgestson yes, exactly.
@timgestson let me try the bamboo-tests
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@timgestson wow, it's great and I have tests to fix!
@timgestson can you put a license on this?
For Bamboo I chose Apache 2.0
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@timgestson I tried tracing the "unvault" transaction pirapira/bamboo-tests@0b4ee3a
@timgestson I don't see an invalid jump in the trace. I'm confused.
pirapira @pirapira will be off next week

hi everyone! :wave: pretty excited to share this pirapira/bamboo#260
image.png
proof of compilation :P
Javier Chávarri
@jchavarri
curious if this JS compiled version could be helpful for the test suite that is in the works in https://github.com/timgestson/bamboo-tests. But it seems it wouldn't help anything (it would just take a lot longer than the native version to compile the contracts heh)
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@jchavarri wow, nice. I have no obsessions with ocaml-batteries. Let me read up your PR.
Tim Gestson
@timgestson
yeah I will add the license
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@timgestson thank you! I cannot ship it without passing your test suite.
Javier Chávarri
@jchavarri
Is this something that would be interesting for Bamboo? https://github.com/fxfactorial/ethereum-re
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@jchavarri maybe something like this is useful for testing. The testing executable somehow needs to talk with Ethereum clients through RPC.
Håvard Anda Estensen
@estensen
@pirapira is there more overhead using Bamboo contracts vs Solidity? Gas usage and bytecode size
Are there any performance tests out there?
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@estensen I think there will be more overhead, and bamboo is not much optimized.
@estensen that makes a relatively independent project, I think.
Håvard Anda Estensen
@estensen
@pirapira I'd like to look into it. Do you have any suggestions on where to start? Pointers to blog posts, documentation or related projects would be very helpful
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
Håvard Anda Estensen
@estensen
I'm able to compile the code, but I'm having some problems with block sync and haven't had time to look more into it yet
I'll make a PR if it doesn't work
ERROR[03-14|13:04:23] Section processing failed type=bloombits error="chain reorged during section processing"
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
I've never seen that. will you file an issue? I want to try.
Yoichi Hirai
@pirapira
@timgestson finally I managed to integrate bamboo-test! pirapira/bamboo#263
Thanks a lot!

Is there an example of a contract creating another contract, in bamboo?

Hey Everyone!

You like Ethereum? Your brain makes thoughts and your fingers move?! Then fill out the goddamn EIP0 Shared Values Survey!
I've emailed, twittered & gittered my little heart out to about ~300 people that I know, but I don't know everyone, the fingers bleed!
But, guess what we've only had ~50 responses, let's get a better cross-section of the community.
Also I wont stop messaging people and spamming it until we get to at least.. 100 responses!

Feeling lazy? Enjoy some juicy low-hanging fruit by sharing it with your team or at least 3 people you trust! #stopjarradspammingsurveys #sorrynotsorryforwallofsurvey #pleasedontbanme
"hurr but Jarrad I don't want to impose values on others, or I'm somehow opposed to it for some other reason".
Well guess what, that's a value/axiom/belief! Tell me about it, write it down!

@pirapira
@jarradh Is this a preparation for the upcoming event in Berlin?

@jarradh
Not directly though if I'm talking at it I'll be talking about this

Is there a language syntax documentation for bamboo?

Hey Guys, I run medium.com/coinmonks, I am looking articles , tutorials which we can republish on Coinmonks...bamboo has only 2 articles in medium,, we want to curate bamboo articles so it can read to wider developer audience
