Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
It didnt remove the old link for the chat, so I just did it in github gui
Brad
@bradcypert
Oh, yeah, I noticed that now.
Brad
@bradcypert
so, ultimately, if we're going to be building ignite for other languages, we'll want to just include templates for that language in it's initial download, correct?
And then they'll be able to download the other templates via the express app.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
maybe, I was thinking about that myself
Ive started making packages that vary from js, like the CMS ones and sublime. I was also thinking maybe it could just pull a tarball from github if we make a centralized repo for templates
Brad
@bradcypert
to install all the others?
or a tarball per template?
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
id say all
otherwise its schema per repo, 100s of repos later
I started a separate repo, https://github.com/bc-ignite/templates, ill see what I can do this weekend with it, we might beable to just abuse the github api to pull the data and save locally
Brad
@bradcypert
Works for me.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
yep
can totally pull from github
can also pull it via base64
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
got it working on pulling from github repo
Brad
@bradcypert
Sweet! Is that code pushed? I'd love to see how you did it.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
sec
cleaning up
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
pushed
Brad
@bradcypert
Will check it out in a sec. Working on color stuff.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
awesome
Brad
@bradcypert
Added you to the PR for #17
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
nice
Brad
@bradcypert
The retrieving from github piece is pretty nifty.
Glad that all worked out.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
im gonna make it modularized a bit more, right now its hacky PoC, but I think this will work pretty well.
Brad
@bradcypert
Seems like a reasonable solution to me
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
I think other than unit tests and reapplying the color stuff, we could launch out of the es6 branch. Docs need to be cleaned up and created.maybe a good time to freeze and look at what bugs are happening.
Brad
@bradcypert
Sounds like a plan to me.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
do you have any experience in golang?
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
I started a golang repo, so far I only have the CLI conventions in, going to start duplicating functions over time
Brad
@bradcypert
I am not a fan of GO at all.
So that one's going to be up to you :)
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
haha its fine, ive already started on some of it
I was floating with the idea between c++ or golang, I wanted a binary version
also, im not sold on the es6-level branch, it was really just a experiment.
So my goal for the following week is to get unit tests and lints completed, write up some documentation and alittle source code fixes
Brad
@bradcypert
What's the part that you're not sure on for the ES6 branch?
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
I meant that es6-level branch where I replaced the files with leveldb, while fun idea, its not portable enough to really float around.
Brad
@bradcypert
That makes sense. We can toss the level stuff if needed.
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
yeah I might just delete it, ill be around later this week, got something goin to prod
Brad
@bradcypert
No worries man! Do what you've gotta do! :)
Also, we're almost @ 1k downloads :D How cool?
Austin Turnage
@wookiecooking
excited, i feel the new features will attract new people as well.
i did a quick commit today for a verbose mode, so something like ignite scaffold express -v, then just logs during the creation. I was considering making a help flag for each one, this way we can go into depth, etc.
checkout what I said in #15, i wanna try that.
Brad
@bradcypert
I think its important to maintain the original intent to not meddle with code much
Brad
@bradcypert
I think we're ready to merge the ES6 branch into master, yeah?
