@aerostitch
it's a pretty popular stuff around here
generally you win a goodies like a shirt if you complete (and get them merged) 5 PR or issues labelled hacktoberfest
it's in order to push people to contribute more
it's generally easy stuffs for beginners that you tag with that

@ixalon
@drewsonne we finally updated gocd...
and hit an incompatability with 18.7.0+ - beamly/go-gocd#166

Chris Warren
@ixalon
going to try to get out a fix today (it's blocking most pipeline creation here)
Chris Warren
@ixalon
@drewsonne if you've got a moment: beamly/go-gocd#167
Chris Warren
@ixalon
0.7.2 of go-gocd is released. It contains 2 fixes:
  • Unmarshalling gocd.Job JSON no longer strips timeout property
  • Add additional artifact_origin property to task attributes (gocd 18.7.0)
We're adding artifact_origin to the terraform provider now and will release ASAP.
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
woot, nice
Thanks
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@ixalon Just tested the latest release .. I don't see the timeout being applied properly
Are you sure the fix was released with the latest code?
Dammit, scratch that, I had an old provider lying around
I wish Terraform had better plugin handling already .. this manual downloading of outside providers is infuriating
Chris Warren
@ixalon
yeah, agreed - it's a pain (the hours we've wasted with engineers having an old version of a provider somewhere in their $PATH)
we've come across another.... annoyance...
@drewsonne empty environment variables are a valid thing, but because we need value and encrypted_value to be optional in the schema (to allow for one to be provided and not the other), terraform's JSON serializer happily excludes value if it's set to an empty string
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
Uhu
That sucks
Chris Warren
@ixalon
I'm wondering about fixing this up in go-gocd (i.e. if you create an environment variable with neither value or encrypted_value provided, it defaults to value = "")
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
Probably a good idea
Drew J. Sonne
@drewsonne
@ixalon Is it that the tf schema requires a value?
Drew J. Sonne
@drewsonne
oh actually... I think i know what this it. beamly/go-gocd#7
This was in my early days of Golang... it's the different between an empty string, and an empty pointer
Chris Warren
@ixalon
Notice: We've released a new version of go-gocd (0.7.4) that supports GoCD 18.11.0 and above (Template Config API is now versioned), fixes empty environment variables, and also merges the other completed PRs.
terraform-provider-gocd (0.1.25) has also been released to use this.
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@ixalon That's amazing, thank you!
Chris Warren
@ixalon

After much thought we're going to release a breaking change to the terraform provider on Friday (new major version - v1.0.0, so shouldn't affect anyone who pulls updates using semver ranges to pin to major version v0.x). Details about what and why are in this PR: beamly/terraform-provider-gocd#80

We've tested this locally with some of our large VSM stacks (over 60 pipelines) and it improves both reliability and performance greatly.

Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@ixalon Doing the lord's work .. thanks!
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
Thanks for your continued support!
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@drewsonne Do you think you will continue on #72 on the provider now that 0.12 is out?
Chris Warren
@ixalon
Evening all - apologies for burning through a few patch version numbers this evening. Having issues with GO111MODULEs and goreleaser.
0.7.10 of go-gocd released successfully. Terraform provider release on the way.
Chris Warren
@ixalon
@moritzheiber We've got a goal for the next quarter to upgrade all our terraform estate to 0.12 - so we'll certainly be updating the provider :)
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@ixalon That’s fantastic news, thank you!
Chris Warren
@ixalon
... and provider 1.0.4 released
Moritz Heiber
@moritzheiber
@ixalon btw GoCD is at version 19.5.0, not 0.19.5
Sorry, I should’ve mentioned you earlier .. I saw it when the SDK was released
Chris Warren
@ixalon
@moritzheiber thanks muchly - have updated the version number in the release notes
Sean Pascual
@seanpascual
Hello Everyone! We are looking to release v2 of the GoCD provider that would have support for Terraform 0.12. The code is currently in the tf12 branch if someone could please have a look and review. Thank you! :)

Hi room, i am working with the beamly/go-gocd library and running into a error when trying to create a pipeline.
[ERROR] invalid character '<' looking for beginning of value
This happens on gocd version 19.10+ anyone run into this problem before ?

@jwoo77
we are using the same steps as the example

Is it possible to retrieve the Result from a Stage in someway? I see that there exists a StageInstance type that has the field Result, but I can't see that its being used anywhere?
