Or even a mechanism that defaults that the chain with the earlier timestamp is always dominant unless a fork is done by developers.

Common Patrick, fire up those neurons and come up with a way to make Beam the first POW chain that is not susceptible to 51% attack. Sure would spawn a moonshot.

    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
theres a few that have done it already haha.
    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Then it would be subject to timestamp attacks
    David Noble(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
    Premined coins are centralized

    NuMorlock (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
They can use GhostDAG to solve this problem.

When move done to blockDAG, then all blocks can just be accepted at same height and then filtered by client protocol - or colored

    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
its not about being accepted its about being replaced
    NuMorlock (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Yeah, you don’t replace anything is my point. Just accept all blocks at whatever height.
    David Noble(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
There must be a point where their attack has a weak point to be exploited by good code.
    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
what about 2 blocks with conflicting transactions at the same height

this is where Pos concensus ontop of pow would vote on teh right block... trustlessly. Pure pos is garbage but a hybrid is the future imho.
    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
    Pure POS is garbager
    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
its already happenign on a few chains
    David Noble(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
POS also is attractive to HODLers who want to earn with parked crypto.

GhostDAG protocol can be configured to filter or color blocks. It’s a dag until the block is locked, once locked it’s traditional blockchain and they don’t need to accept reorgs.
    NuMorlock (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Or can color or filter or whatever.
    Patrick (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Right, Im waiting on more info on beams version.

Problem: most PoS schemes are financed via dirty inflation unless you can come one with PoS financed by transaction fees and capped supply only :)

How similar will be Beam smart contracts to Ethereum smart contracts in terms of UX and features?
    Codonyat (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
In other words, will they also be pieces of unstoppable code and use a Turing-complete language?
    Guy Corem(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
    yes and yes
    Codonyat (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Do you have any insights how they will compare to the secret contracts from the Secret network and the FHE smart contracts from Dero?
    BeamTalk
    @BeamTalk
    Guy Corem(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Secret contracts are based on SGX which is MEH
    Guy Corem(Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
FHE is more interesting tech, but I think it will take long time to be available
    Codonyat (Ch: @BeamPrivacy)
Yes, agree. I should've included Dero only.
