Though I find the ability to name your queries of limited use in practice because there's no support for parameterizing the query. For example, usually I want to run the query over a parameterized set of dates. But the named queries still have their uses.

Hi everyone, is there a recommended way to publish a Fava site online as a read-only document? I guess specifically without any editing or import options?

Given that it is an application this would almost certainly be a container hosting of some sort and just make the underlying file readonly?

For me the challenge has been ensuring that the fava and underlying bean count in the container has all the plugins that I setup in my local beancount environment.

One way to work around that might be to run bean-report file.beancount print in your local env and feed that to the fava container which (in theory) would no longer require any plugins to operate.

I'm just building a docker container with all the plugins I need, if you already have a base container it should more or less boil down to a pip install of the additional plugins

the ghostscript and mesa stuff is only for some plugins which parse pdf files

Seems like a Firefox issue. macOS Safari renders it correctly.

You can either use a WSGI middleware to add the necessary headers to the Fava WSGI app and then run that. Or have your reverse proxy add the headers.

With FavaLedger.entries being deprecated, what is the best way to access a commodity's metadata (found in its commodity declaration)? This is not guaranteed to be available in the filtered context since the commodity declaration may be outside the currently selected date interval.

I've an issue with Fava and documents. Uploads via Journal works fine and are added to the transaction with document: "2022-10-14 receipt.pdf". This document can't however be accessed in the Documents view, it's simply not represented there.

When clicking on the journal line of the document, I get redirected to http://localhost:5000/ledger/statement/?entry_hash=e5e307e9c11a5e04aef973f3620c9e83&key=document which simply says

Statement not found.

I can add documents to the Documents view, but not through uploading, only manually: 2022-07-13 document [account] [path]

Is something broken or am I missing something here? What's the difference between statements and documents in Fava?

Suppose that:
I am from the Eurozone,working in US. So i have 2 main currency (USD & EUR), the exchange rate is: 1 USD = 0.998 EUR,
in this case, Fava's Balance Sheet chart can show my USD and EUR accounts changes normally. (because this 2 currency is propinquity)

but:
if I'm a Korean working in the US, the exchange rate is: 1 USD = 1386 KRW,
so i have a large amount KRW than USD, then the question occurs to me——
since KRW's amount is three order of magnitude larger than USD,

==>> the chart main show my KRW account on the topmost, but my USD account is crowded into the bottom 1/10( very much like a straight line that doesn't change )😂🤣

Hi everyone

I have a quick question

My spouse asked for a ledger. I was able to spin one up fast with beancount. Now she says, how do I add to this when I am out? Is there a Google Doc or text I can send. I think it is very valid. How can one contribute to a beancount file when out and about. The only contribution would be a transaction directive.

This is more of a general beancount question than fava specific I think.

By running Fava on a home server and access it via at-home VPN. Or by sharing the beancount file over webdav/nextcloud/similar.

Or by using one of those Telegram bots to write to the file. :)

Hi,
Is there a way to filter out whole category of accounts in for example the trial balance?
Like Expenses:Car:* with Expenses:Car:Fuel, Expenses:Car:Tyres, :Repairs etc?

I can manage with tags, by putting -#hashtag-name into the filter - something similar to that?
