    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    I know we're going to be trying to do some of the sprints :)
    yeah
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    niceee
    Cleveland is cool
    hit up the rock and roll museum if you have some time
    :+1:
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Will do! :)
    anyone have any features they really want to see?
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    I do, but I think Mike Recachinas already told me what you said about it :P
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Is this switching out queues?
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    yea
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Yeah, that's actually not super far off
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    basically s/rabbitmq/kafka/
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    that ability is on the long-term road map
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    Nice!
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Ultimately, we would need someone to write the kafka adapter though
    think you could do that part?
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    starting in ~June, probably
    do you have an interface already?
    or do you need to abstract some stuff out?
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    We definitely still need to abstract out some stuff
    I'll ping you once we have the interface?
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    for sure!
    I’m still waiting for the bg in a bg meetup. :P
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Yeah, we actually need to make that a thing
    @hazmat345 thoughts?
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    @loganasherjones you have to cross the bridge to get to VA, yeah?
    if so: yikes
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Yeah
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    trying to think about what’s most central
    are you in the DC part of MD or closer to the water?
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    I'm further north. I could make it to DC though
    Elijah Rippeth
    @erip
    I know some folks who run meetups and somehow find venues. I can try to reach out to them
    otherwise, there are literal beergardens in DC
    heh
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    I'm down with that

    Hello guys. We have one plugging which assumes to submit tasks to celery and retrieve their outputs. I have a feedback from one of our developers, that beer garden is dealing only with sync tasks and this makes a problem to integrate this solution with the beer garden. Do we understand the limitation properly? How to solve this?

    Anyway, some update from my side. We think to use result.get(timeout=300)in celery. This turns the call into sync one (http://docs.celeryproject.org/en/latest/getting-started/first-steps-with-celery.html#keeping-results)

    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Yeah, based on my understanding you should be able to call a celery task from a beer-garden plugn without too much of a problem

    hi all, really liking the tool so far :) Just two quick questions, will there be authorisation for which Systems can be used by a user? and using the docker-compose.yml file is there a way to mount pre-defined users without running brew-view first?

    It's been a real long time since I came back to gitter. I updated my installation of beer garden with the latest version, (this time in a virtual environment) but it seems the old systems I wrote no longer works. The error I am receiving is "Backend request timed out" when the system starts up.

    This is on a CentOS 7.5, on Python 3.7. Thanks!

    @loganasherjones
    Hi @byosh_gitlab welcome back! :) The error you're receiving seems to indicate that bartender is down. Are you sure bartender is running?
    Logan Jones
    @loganasherjones
    Hi @mshirb_gitlab glad you like the tool! The documentation for authentication/authorization is a work in progress, but yes, you can do AA in Beer Garden up to a point

    Hello @loganasherjones,
    I attended the Open Space talk at Pycon and was inspired to give Beer Garden a go, especially with the intention of spinning up quick plugins with Docker to help get some of our plugins accessibility across our organization. We've had luck with the docker-compose you've provided on the site, along with the example plugins compose. The issue I'm having is creating a plugin from scratch. I've attempted to follow the docs provided, but I think I'm a little lost. I have the generic Hello World plugin in the my_plugin-1.0.0.0.tar.gz saved into the folder referenced in the compose. I've composed up and when I go into the container, I see it there and untar/compress it.... That's about as far as I can get. I try to rescan the system directory... but it's not going so well. So at the risk of looking foolish in this chat, I thought I would pose the question and see what I get.

    @loganasherjones
    Hey @burzikw! Good to hear from you again. No need to worry about sounding foolish. We are here to help :)
    Let me make sure I have your problem correct. You've stood up BG using our docker-compose file from our GitHub repo. After you've stood that up, you have a plugin that you've created and put into a .tar.gz. You've transferred the .tar.gz to the correct folder in the compose, exploded the file, and then tried to rescan but to no avail
