I am trying to set up deepdetect on a server and facing some errors.
Is a GPU necessary for deepdetect to run ?
I guess the problems might be because of the absence of a GPU

No you don't need a GPU.

Comment into the issue then please. Be precise about your platform, Ubuntu version etc.
As a remainder only Ubuntu 14.04 has professional support. Other platforms are considered community supported at this stage though we help fixing issues as we can.

Then opencv2 is default, if the instructions from the ticket don't work, please add all details.

Unfortunately I am not available until sometimes in a few days. But post your cmakelist file, check that you have everything like opencv_highgui linked and installed etc. This looks like a simple configuration issue

How do I check whether opencv_highgui is installed ?
Oh, checking /usr/include/opencv2 and /usr/include/opencv , right?
yeah,it's there

make VERBOSE=1 will show the link and paths for the lib, and then vheck they are correct
