http://www.deepdetect.com/tutorials/train-imagenet/ is this basically the same as what the "imgsearch.sh" demo script does? Or is it actually training a new network? (whats the right terminology here?)

it s training. Take one of the hands on tutorials with neural nets out there. It's the next commodity on the stack, you will not be losing your time. Keras probably has some good ones, and deeplearning.net should have some more as well, depending if you prefer the algebra approach or the programming one.

Hey beniz! programming is easier for me. Ok so imgsearch.sh is indexing right? and that one is training a new layer of the network?

training full new network yes.

opencv no longer comes with libjpeg support, which is breaking the build demonstration, a little annoying :D
OpenCV Error: Unspecified error (could not find encoder for the specified extension) in imencode, file /build/buildd/opencv-2.4.8+dfsg1/modules/highgui/src/loadsave.cpp, line 415 dont know if it's worth putting into the docs or not
