Min RK
@minrk
Ah, no. I don't think that's been added.
jupyterhub/binder#14
Lukas
@lukasheinrich
as motivation: LIGO got a nobel prize... still one of the best binder examples :sparkles:
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
good point!
Min RK
@minrk
cool!
DariaBogdan
@DariaBogdan
Good day! Could you please help me?
When someone else try to view my ipynb, password or token is required. In message it is told, that I can turn it off. But I don't understand how to do it, because jupyter notebook runs not on my server.

Min RK
@minrk
@DariaBogdan you should share the binder URL that looks like https://beta.mybinder.org/v2/gh/your/repo, not the URL that looks lke https://hub.beta.mybinder.org/user/.... That last URL is only for you and cannot be shared. The first URL will give the other person their own instance.
DariaBogdan
@DariaBogdan
@minrk thank you!
J Forde
@jzf2101
im trying to write a blog post about binder and ligo
is there anything i should mention about the binder instance?
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
@jzf2101 @choldgraf would know!
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
hey @jzf2101 - what kind of post are you writing? we're gonna do a "binder 2.0 launch" post in the next couple of weeks...but if you wanna highlight binder in the context of LIGO that'd be awesome
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
ATTENTION @/all : This Gitter channel is moving to https://gitter.im/jupyterhub/binder. Please send any new comments, questions, requests there
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
@jzf2101 ah one other thing, make sure that whatever binder links you share go to the beta version! (they should have beta.mybinder.org in the URL)
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
I'm getting a weird "failed to connect to eventstream" error with a few binder repos that use postBuild scripts
but it only happened intermittently
I tried the link again and it worked
(in related news, there's a jupyterlab binder example repo now :-) )
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
oops - this shouldn't have gone in this repo!
moving it over to gitter.im/jupyterhub/binder !
Agah
@agahkarakuzu
Hi everyone again!
We will start binderizing our python works
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
hey! can you take this over to http://gitter.im/jupyterhub/binder :-)
new conversations about binder are happening there...we're gonna deprecate this gitter room soon!
Agah
@agahkarakuzu
I need to know that which directory will be assigned by default when build with requirements.txt
Ah! Ahah okay :)
^_^ may I have one last answer from here :D
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
re: your question, I'm not sure what you mean by "assigned"
Agah
@agahkarakuzu
/home/jovyab/work
Or something else?
To handle auxiliary files
I need a root dir
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
so, what I'd recommend is trying out repo2docker on your own machine with --debug and `--no-build``
that'll show you the Dockerfile that r2d is creating and then turning into a docker image
Agah
@agahkarakuzu
oh okay!
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
so you can just do pip install jupyter-repo2docker
then, e.g., jupyter-repo2docker --debug --no-build https://github.com/binder-examples/latex
Agah
@agahkarakuzu
Thank you so much Chris!
Chris Holdgraf
@choldgraf
no problemo!
I'm gonna put another "please move to the other gitter channel" note in a couple of seconds so it's the lowest comment

For me, it's useful to have a page of empty text drawing the eye down to the announcement...

Ralf Weber
@RJMW
How do I install my python package (github repo) inside my conda environment (environment.yml) when I use conda? Is there a recommended way to run python setup.py install
Min RK
@minrk
@RJMW try adding pip install . to a postBuild script. We do this by default if you have a requirements.txt, but not conda (this is probably not intentional, but an artifact of buildpack inheritance)
Ralf Weber
@RJMW
@minrk do you have an example where pip install . and conda are combined?
Min RK
@minrk

I don't, but if you create a file called postBuild whose contents are

#!/bin/bash
pip install .

it should work, I think
