Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
yes and much more
it makes object-graph mapping so abstract that you do it at the type level and then you need the mapping itself any longer
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
cool! we should write it in the readme! in bold :smile:
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
why?
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
I was asked today about it and had no idea what this OGM is. but I guess for many people around it's kind of the opposite — they will get a quick idea of what this project is about (and get intrigued by this “and much more...” :wink: )
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
I mean is not exactly like object mapping
but the functionalities are
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
when are you planning the presentation, btw?
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
I saw the page before. anything in particular?
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
The part of ORM that corresponds to calling stuff on objects
I mean
it would be pretty easy to build an OGM on top of angulillos
but it would be kinda pointless
but yes sure you can
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
okay..
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
just add standard OGM methods to the graph
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
I see
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
and then when you call vertex.store()
that goes to the graph
and the graph does whatever etc
with an in-memory untyped-graph impl that does all the caching etc in the meantime
you could even use tinkergraph for that
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
hm.. I’m loosing your point
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
making it wider
:)
all these ORM, OGM OWhateverM
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
haha :smile: shame on me
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
if you want to have an in-memory transient representation
then you need to do more or less what I sketched above
if not
then angulillos is already a OGM!
and much more
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
I don't know, I'm not a great fan of all this enterprisey terminology
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
my point was just to refer to the things that people are already familiar with...
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
yes yes agreed
feel free to add something like "one way of understanding what angulillos does is as a kind of OGM blahblah"
to the readme
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
ahm.. I don’t think I have enough competence in this to write it properly...
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
same for me!
but do it
:smile:
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
okay… "_
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
the world belongs to those who dare
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
:trollface:
Alexey Alekhin
@laughedelic
@eparejatobes hi.
so what's wrong with #54?
Eduardo Pareja Tobes
@eparejatobes
well
