aws s3api get-object --request-payer requester --bucket eu-west-1.releases.bio4j.com/ --key 2014_12_03/bio4j_all_but_uniref_and_gi_index.tar bio4j.tar

it's strange, because it should be public. probably you should add --region eu-west-1

i did also try with cyberduck just to connect to the bucket to see if that worked
i can connect to the bucket but am denied dir listing, further if i attempt to connect directly to the /2014_12_03/ path I cannot even connect and am denied
i do also get a notification that the certificate is not valid

is it possible the requesterpays flag is not set to true?

@nlakhani I don't think it's possible, because then Era7 will pay when you are downloading it. Please, read this note about cost and fees.
@pablopareja could you check that the files are public?

@laughedelic sorry if my comment was confusing, I was not suggesting to make it not true, I was asking as you did whether perhaps the permissions are changed to not public.
I am happy to pay the transfer costs and in any case am using eu-west-1 so this should not be a problem
