Hey all. I'm new to Bitwarden and contributing. I've just downloaded the Web vault source and ran it with node, however i don't know where the dev credentials are, cold someone advise please? I've tried my own account but it just says an error occurred

@dltmurphy
Sorry just seen its failing to connect to the proxy that it created on localhost:4000. I'll read more of the docs to see whats going on :)

Try to read the setup.md in the browser and server repos

@dltmurphy
Thanks @mikibakaiki ! I've got the DB, API and Identity up and running now. Do i just need to insert a user into the DB to be able to login with?
João Miguel Campos
@mikibakaiki
Now, head over to the extension, change the connection settings and create a user, as if you were registering for the first time! Should be all there is to it!
You just need the api and identity links

Sweet perfect thanks mate 😊 Much appreciated

Hey everyone. How do I go about testing the premium features in a local dev environment without having to license it?
Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
Hi @dltmurphy, as far as I know there's no way for us to provide this, sorry.
Danny Murphy
@dltmurphy
Okay no worries. I'll try licensing it

Why have they still not updated the self hosted script? The new version has been out for 10 days.

If I have a code suggestion that isn't a bug and is just for improved performance in one aspect of the bitwarden/server application should I make a GitHub issue describing the proposed change or should I make a post on the forum? I can work on the change but I don't want to waste my time if they wouldn't accept the change.
Trey Greer
@tgreer-bw
Use the Forum, specifically the GitHub contributions area - that way we can help with any questions/implementation ideas.
thanks @justindbaur!

@cscharf: https://github.com/bitwarden/desktop/issues/832#issuecomment-843607907 does "next release" refer to or include v1.26.3? This issue is still present on Windows 10.
Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
Hey @snuupy:matrix.org , that fix went out in the latest release (in the last week or so). If you're still experiencing the bug, please comment in that issue thread so we can track it and maybe reopen

Hello everyone.

Is there any difference between bw get send and bw send get?
Jackie Fanddy
@superJackie_gitlab
@ggiesen Hello.
you there?
Are you a developer?
Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
@ggiesen as far as I know, bw get send is not a valid command. All Send-related actions are via the send command
It's a little inconsistent with how other items are treated, but I think send was considered different enough that it was better to put it all related commands one place and keep them separate from other items

is there a way to disable the update prompt in bitwarden desktop?

I have to manually downgrade after I accidentally upgrade every time due to the ctrl-w bug

@Mahks

I have 6 input fields on a user account page, I can’t seem to determine how bitwarden chooses what to autofill. I have 2 inputs “username” and “current-password”, but autofill wants to fill “email” and “alias”, even when they arenot within the form tag. Bitwarden also fills more that 2 inputs in some cases.

Not sure what I am missing, please help!

Good Morning bitwarden team, I am looking into contributing and found this issue labeled "Good first issue". bitwarden/server#852 I think I have the necessary code changes, but I am looking to test it locally. I followed the SETUP.md and have the Api and Identity projects running. The issue I am running into is the authorization method. It looks like I need to setup a Client ID and Client Secret. How would I go about setting that up? Is it the installation ID and Key I used during the setup? If there is some documentation for getting that setup, feel free to point me in that direction as well. Thanks!
Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
Hi @BashfulBandit, you can follow the instructions here to find your api key (client ID + client secret): https://bitwarden.com/help/article/public-api/
You'll need the web vault client set up and pointing to your local server as well, if you haven't already done that
Davis Templeton
@BashfulBandit
Hey @eliykat Thanks for that information! I did realize after asking originally that I needed to run the web vault locally. The issue I am running into is it won't let me create an organization for the account I made if "selfhosted": true. When I set "selfhosted" to false, then the API and Identity services won't run. I may be missing something, but is there a way around this? The only client ID and client secret I am able to access is for a User, but the endpoint I am wanting to test requires an organization.
Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
Yes, unfortunately those are paid features and we have no way of giving out organization subscriptions just for development/testing purposes. It's a bit of a blocker when it comes to community contributions. But I can see that you've figured it out and submitted a PR, so I'll check it out :)

@marpo60

Hello,

Is is possible to increase the Password History to more than 5?

Thomas Rittson
@eliykat
Hi @marpo60, I don't believe we have any options for that at the moment, but you can make a feature request on our community forums: http://community.bitwarden.com

Hey folks. I've just got bitwarden working behind traefik. I am able to create new users and log in and see the admin console, however, I have run into an error with the "portal" service while trying to set up OIDC SSO. After I fill out the form on bitwarden with my sso information and hit save the portal service fails with an error message saying
2021-08-21 02:26:05.890 +00:00 [Error] An exception was thrown while deserializing the token.
Microsoft.AspNetCore.Antiforgery.AntiforgeryValidationException: The antiforgery token could not be decrypted.

Hello! Is it possible to request a free organization acount (with unlimited members) for an open-source tool (flameshot)?

Um. Hello?
Trey Greer
@tgreer-bw
@pavel-the-best Hi! This channel is mostly for development related questions, thus the delay 😎 - We don’t currently offer free organizations for more than 2 users. You can of course have an unlimited number of users on an on-prem server, though.

I have two logins for a site stored in BitWarden's vault. Is there any way to mark one of them as the 'preferred' login? Using the Chrome extension primarily.

So if you have an alt account you barely use, the autofill will pretty much default to your 'preferred' (i.e. most recently used) account

@adhawkins
proglift: Worked out that it used the most recent. Didn't realise that repeated presses would cycle through. Useful.
